Putting back the old system of 4 base classes and then the specific classes off of them, I think was fine and added a bit more difficulty to the game. I also enjoyed when the leveling was actually more difficult.

Here's what I think should happen personally whilst going off some of your ideas.

Simpler classes.

Back in around 2012-2013 was when I played the most, things were simple and appealing. You leveled a core class (caster, rogue, warrior, or healer) to level 20, then you got a profession. It was nice and classes under level 20 couldn't PVP with professioned classes. Skills were simple and there weren't too many for one particular class, everything was pretty balanced with a combat triangle visualized here
nVIWbCI.png

This allowed for streamlined gameplay right from spawn, and since you had to choose a class in the tutorial, you don't have to worry about people not knowing how to choose one since it would require people to actually read the rules.

Now the main point of this is that it made for more fun pvp, and would allow towns to judge what they needed.

Also Legendary classes should be removed and worked on, they are buggy and dangerous currently.

Mob Arenas

Kainzo, I know you hated em, but they need to come back.

Mob arenas allowed players to level relatively quickly, while not needing to wait for night time to come.

Currently the modern herocraft equivalant to them are the events, but right now those suck. Seriously it's the same thing and it's spoiling everybody that does them, you guys spawn mobs, do a boss or 2, then more mobs, and usually ends with a drop party of rare and wanted items, which takes away the challenge of getting those items, and usually the people who have bards in their party get them first anyway.

Mob arenas had a diamond sink, while allowing "noobs" to get levels they wanted, while having fun.
Could even have a player leaderboard to see who can go the most rounds in the mob arena without dying, or have round 60 be a boss monster that you and your party needs to kill to get a reward.
Think the treacherous tower from zelda.

Continued later.

Continued,

Economy
the global market is trash, the souls suck, and nobody has an incentive to go merchant.

Currently if you go merchant, you wasted the money to switch, and with no chestshops, it's borderline useless.

I miss being able to run around the nice spawns and looking for good deals in the player made chest shops, they were also appealing to the eye. And with that I'm going to make a suggestion I made a bit ago.
Also seriously, get rid of the global market, it's shit.

Trade-Town
I'm going to say something that may offend the builders, but here it goes.

THE CURRENT SPAWN SUCKS

it's just the most unappealing spawn I've ever played in, even the last map's was better. I remember when the spawn town actually had a town, instead of some small drop off area, I liked being able to run around and immerse myself in the game.
And with that I suggest the team rebuilds the spawn town to be larger and have more to do with an RPG other than the single castle and warps.

If you don't feel like rebuilding spawn, how about have that single boat that is in spawn have a teleport sign on it that takes you to a new-esq spawn that has a trade district, like a port town, currently it's just a waste of space.

more when I think of more.

I completely agree, it made for more fun times.

Spawn is pretty basic this map, I did it myself with no help in a week. I've made adjustments on the architect server with more to come which will be pasted in soon.

I know better custom weapons and items are incoming. I would love to see different types of armor sets, PvP and PvE.

PvE sets will be obtained from dungeons and raids as a random drop chance, and provide damage reduction for armor, and extra damage for weapons related to the environment only. Each dungeon should provide a different set, with different bonuses.

That being said, I would love the dungeons to be difficult enough to require parties of 3-5 and teamwork. Raids for larger groups of 10-15, on a weekly lockout, and will provide the best gear.

PvP sets will be obtained from... PvP, ie, arenas! With different types of battles from objective, doubles, and FFA, a leaderboard should be provided and the winners of each month given a piece of PvP gear which will reduce damage from player sources, and increase damage given to players.

Going back to the four basic classes (as mentioned before) is a great idea. It gives new players a taste of what the classes can do while not overwhelming them with abilities. It also protects them from PvP while they are learning the way the server works.

Bring back one of the old Spawns - very few people would realize its an older spawn and those that did will actually enjoy it - provided they had good memories from that map -- ie Bastion for me.

While I enjoy the Global Market I agree with others that it doesn't work here. Get rid of it and go back to chest shops or normal trades via Trade channel. It might be worth looking into some sort of plugin that allows direct trades between people as a lot of new players expect that - been asked many times how to do it, only to have to explain how to confirm in trade and then throw it at them.... That was fine a few years ago, but today's players want / expect more.

Perhaps some sort of enchanting plugin so enchanters can decide what enchant to place on an item -- and give non-sword weapons some love. If it has to remain random thats ok, but give some love to the other weapons.

Make it so when people craft a piece of armor there is a slight chance for a non-magical bonus added to it based on their level / and or regeants. This will allow crafted armor to compete with the basic custom drops -- right now custom armor drops kill all normal armor and the entire armor market is dead.

As much as I love my unbreaking weapon / tools get rid of them... they make it so I never need to buy another tool / weapon as long as I don't lose it by dying. All weapons / tools should have durability -- even blaze rods and such if possible - if not, get rid of them as weapons.

Here is a suggestion the server is lacking EU players and i think this issue can be resolved by simply having more events for EU players considering that most of the events the server holds at 1 to 3 AM for most of us EU players.

Tbh at this point that won't resolve a lack of players, there are far bigger problems currently.

The events I've seen staff run aren't going to be the things that keep people around.

Though this would be a good idea further down the line when more important things are resolved

An updated forums. If you indeed plan to rebrand, it is perfect timing anyway to switch the forums to a more modern, attractive interface.

For those of you who don't know me, I've been pounding the Herocraft name close to my chest for over 6 years. I love this server, I love the community (even you toxic trolls who never btfo).

I think we've come to a conclusion that no amount of money will work on advertising with our current setup. We have spent $3000 for two weeks of slots and received over 7500 unique new players. Of those, less than 10% have stayed more than a day or two. While this isn't an entire waste, it spread our influence and bolstered our 80,000 accounts to eblast and inform of new events and servers.
I am also involved with a group of people who are repeatedly in the top 10 servers in terms of population (Hypixel, Arkham, etc) they have been weighing in on Herocraft and giving much needed advice to make it #1 or reach the top 10 in terms of play-ability, here's a short list of improvements that must be made for our community to continue flourishing.
  1. Simplify Everything.
  2. Rebrand the server (re-release under a new name)
  3. Be slightly more "p2w" with store and clean up the useless shit
  4. Don't listen to your community on everything and have a backbone that cannot be compromised.
  5. Have a better gameplay option with handholding and IN YOUR FACE objectives
  6. LEADER BOARD EVERYTHING (in-game and out)
  7. Retention, players chewing through all your content in less than one week.
  8. Dump a portion of your earnings to advertising (YOUTUBE/SERVER LISTS)

Herocraft hasn't been just a hobby for me, for 3 years it served as my primary income while I made the transition of life into different areas, different partners and homes. It has given me a creative outlet that helped me cope with things going on around me. It was has been here in the Minecraft community for a very long time.

Here's a list of my own things below in what I think would thrive and flourish for a server and the community similar to Herocraft.
  • Simplified skills/classes
  • Good upgrade systems
  • SLOW LEVELING BUT INCREASE FUN. (Zeal.etc)
  • An in-depth Economy (5th path is Construction/Crafting)
  • Dungeons, Quests, Items
  • Introduce "Townships" as "Guilds" and later allow them to claim land and fight over it.
  • High End PVP arenas
  • High End PVP games
  • Leaderboards on Levels, Items, PVP, PVE, Minigames, Towns
  • Remove Survival gameplay as PRIMARY
  • Replace with "Dominions" as a personal area you can build/show your friends.
  • Add Survival/Townships as "alternative"
Based on the very good feedback from the network of server owners, I believe we need your input into what a "good" server has to offer and what you particularly want to see.
Please leave constructive feedback. I give you my time freely, this is my hobby, this is your fun, don't shit on it or bash it without reason or you wont be valued.
I absolutely love this community, keep it up @Kainzo, I'd like to help where ever I can.

please heavily consider going back to the 4 class system, it promoted the best of the heroes plugin.

Overall from what I read the server just needs to be completely rehauled with new and old suggestions. We really don't need a warring system we need objectives around the map. We want Dungeons and events at the beginning of the map. We want starter classes back while also having the option to skip the starter class if u have the codex (makes codex's even more useful then they are). Custom weapons back. Custom armor stays. Get rid of custom mobs or instead make it so they only spawn and fight at night or some other work around because of how they destroy team fights (please don't argue they honestly do whether or not you believe so). Get rid of Furniture theres no point to have a buggy plugin. I have a fuck ton of furniture I wouldn't care if it all got taken out I rather that happen then not being able to use it half the time or it giving my town mates lag when I have two pieces of furniture out. Bring in more trustworthy staff we are in need of moderators on the server.

Smaller things: Revamp Spawn, get rid of any type of castle in spawn make the 1st most important object 400 blocks out of spawn.

Biggest thing: LET PLAYERS VOTE. let the people choose what the castles or structures look like or even what spawn looks like. Players should be given the option of what they are going to be fighting on half the time so if we end up keeping conquest points after all this, let the players choose the type of buildings

@Kainzo This is basically what everyone I read wants and what people I know that aren't playing on the server now want.

For me, I think a great change could be done to the staff. It's overall bad in my opinion. Loads of confusion, and from time to time, abusive staff that does not get delt with.

if you see abusive staff you should report them with evidence to an admin/the exploit reporting subforum.

Thank you for your typical guide reply, but there is more to it than that. If the staff system was broken, reporting would not help. Just stating my opinion tho, to the hope that it might change.

FYI I used to be an admin here so it is more than a "typical guide response". As such I can confirm that if there is a member of staff stepping out of line they will be dealt with if evidence is provided. So rather than complaining about something that isn't there try doing what you're supposed to do.

Also note that just because you report something doesn't mean you'll get to see the results of what happened.
