I thought Canada invented Hockey?
British soldiers in 1885 invented Hockey. Though there are records from Britain that says something similar to hockey has been played all the way back in 1853. Either way, Hockey was invented by the british.

Actually the British had games similar to hockey but the first recorded game was in Montreal in 1875 :p

I said the first Recorded game NOT the first professional :p Also the letter just says Darwin was good at Hocky, it may not have been anything more than skating

"The rules of modern ice hockey were devised by Canadian J G A Creighton. In 1875, the first game of ice hockey with Creighton's rules was played in Montreal, Canada" - from your 2nd link meaning the actual Sport Hockey was invented by Canadians, even if someone played a game similar to it, it wasn't hockey :p sorry

If you want good hockey, the Dutch women's team is the best.

Obviously there has been recordings of Hockey long before 1875 if you read any of the articles. The first recorded game following certain rules that modern hockey is built upon, was indeed in Canada.

Also look at the date of these articles, they are less than a month old most of them. The experts working on it spent over 10 years investigating, so I'm pretty sure they aren't completely off when saying that there are records all the way back to 1790s of Ice Hockey in Britain. It's a new discovery, which is why a lot of you might haven't heard about it yet.

ok so if there is no, or there is different rules then it isn't hockey, if you have a game just like football football soccer or however you say it but you can also use your hands then it isn't the same sport. meaning Hockey was invented in 1875 anything before that really wasn't hockey but something that may have been very similar
