RE: Skyforge: NOW RECRUITING!

Ok I'm back. Just checking, can I start working on the ground level now?
Oh and it won't be medieval like, fits better if it's modern like the rest of SF and there's already a casino so yea.

Sweer, glad you're back Fire! Yeah, I'll officially leave you in charge of the ground level, you've got executive power down there.

I had Aph look into the griefing since they also cobbled the warehouse; I'm glad it worked out. Too bad, I thought that Rainbow was someone's friend, or something. Oh well, he's removed from the roster and permission list, end of story.

Also, welcome to Texteo, our newest citizen.

Made a new workshop/warehouse next to the forge. You know, kinda what we already had, but more organized. Now, I need permission to:
- Demolish one wheat patch on the left to make a road to Cobbles and beyond. We can make the other patches longer if needed!
- Demolish the old wheat farm building Trickeryzz made long ago. I think he was already gonna do that, but for one reason or another it still stands there unused :p For replacement, I was thinking of mostly water so the bridges on the sides make more sense. Maybe a little island in the middle for looks. Also we could have 2-3 "premium" plots on the other side of the lake.

The big thing we need right now is the coin for our city ring. I've got 1900, and it'll only takes 3000. If any Skyforge citizen has gold or coin a donation would be appreciated.

If you want something to work on, take a look at the project list on the OP and pick something you think will be interesting. Or you can suggest your own project if you have an idea.

RE: Skyforge: NOW RECRUITING!

I have been doing a lot on the wall lately. On the north side of town the wall is done so it now stretches from east to the mountains in north west. What I have made so far is of half steps and isnt very thick tall or fancy, so its definately possible to add other materials on top of the current wall to change appearance.

I have also started a bit on the wall on the south side, but its hard to know what to do where there are tall mountains. Btw, I also think the inside of the town walls should be lit and "cultivated". (not completely wild)

I am making sandstone walls that go along the top of the cliffs to the south. For your wall on the north side of town I recommend either doing the same thing with the cliffs there, or bringing the wall out further so it hugs a natural terrain feature.

Saber is going to donate some coin towards our city ring, and we will eventually go to Capital, so it's better to make the wall too far out than too close.

I'll probably make a log section of wall, like a wooden palisade, towards the NW border. I'll have a wooden watchtower on fence stilts to keep watch for Blasphemy goons, too!

After this project is complete I can either help you with the train station or work on the arena.

RE: Skyforge: NOW RECRUITING!

I have been working a lot lately on a circular wall that follows the terrain, making a natural defensive perimeter as well as a good looking border to an area that we can keep lit and "cultivated". I have been basing the current wall on R=100 from the center which is a lot further out than the wildest terrain around town, also having the wall any further out would make it outside of the pylons of KoE.

I have seen what you have put up so far of the wall capn, and I think that a more natural looking wall would be better. My plan was making first a thin wall (2-3 blocks wide) of half steps, and then add on other materials to give it different styles different places. I have seen that you have removed some of the wall that I spent some hours making today, it would have been nice if you had said some days (a week) ago that you didnt want a circular wall. That way I could have worked on something else than something that would jus tbe removed anyway.

My apologies Diavolo, I had started laying the wall a couple days ago and assumed you would see it and connect to it, I guess it wasn't very visible from the ground at that point. I should have been more clear when I said I wanted to make a wall along the clifftop to the south. I meant I was intending to make it replace the circular wall just in that area; there's some interesting terrain to exploit over there, like that inlet between the cliffs.

I'm not super happy with how the clifftop wall looks either, I'll probably have to redo it. Your wall looks fantastic, on the other hand!

RE: Skyforge: NOW RECRUITING!

yea, I probably should have noticed. The clifftop thing will be pretty cool when its done, but I think the sandstone might be a bit invisible (atleast on my texture pack) since its pretty similar to dirt/sand. I think mixing sandstone with some other material would look pretty good. Making a more "square" wall at the south side like you have started now would be pretty nice, atleast if we put some towers at the corners. we can ofcourse also use curving walls some places where that fits and have straight ones where that fits.

On materials for the straight wall I suggest having the lower part of the wall in either bricks or cobble, and then have logs or sandstone on the upper 2/3rds.

Those are some good suggestions, thanks for the help. Maybe I'll mix some birch logs in there and see how that looks, try and straighten some of the wonky sections out.

RE: Skyforge: NOW RECRUITING!

hey, I have started building more of the wall in south now. Have been doing 2-4 blocks at the bottom of the wall in cobble and the rest in sandstone and so far I think it looks pretty good. We'll see when its done.

Okay there's now a huge ass plot next to the lake on ground level. I'm planning to either have it be a Baron's Mansion if any of them have an interest to build one there. Or we could just sell it as a premium plot to anyone or build a public project there (any ideas?). What do you think?

Well, there has been talk earlier about an arena. First we tried buiding it up in the air with the other stuff, but came to the conclusion we wanted it on the ground. Perhaps this is where we should put the arena? If not I suggest some sort of mansion building with fountains and gardens and the mansion itself in Baroque style. We could all cooperate on it and have it as the mayors estate. Would be cool.

About the arena, I guess it fite better to have it somewhere "more ugly". Not close to a lake, but just on some big dry piece of land.

Yeah there's plenty of space to build a mansion like that! The plot atm is something like 12x25, but it can be extended towards the mountains easily. On the other hand, the Arena could fit there too. Leave the 12x25 area empty for now, or build a garden or something there, and start the Arena past that plot. We could level the mountain or use them to make it a little different than most arenas.

Personally I think if we have someone who could make it a beautiful building (and I'm sure we do), then that's a fantastic spot. If it'll be an ugly cobble thingy then maybe put it elsewhere :p
