Joshusama tpd demon and trazil to their death, We asked if that was gtp abuse, josh said it wasn't

This is a perfect example of a reason rules need to be written.

Obviously not everything can be written down, but If we have something people keep ask questions about, and there are discrepancies between understanding and implementation amoungst the leadership it needs to be documented
You make a total point here. Now, I think that it should be illegal to do if it was a random person but we are all a group of friends. We were trolling each other with GTPs that whole day. Let me remind you as friends. They all didn't really mind it and laughed about it. And if I had people in my party I didn't know too well, I most likely wouldn't have done it. But Kainzo did make a post in elite stating "Just leave the party." So in my personal opinion and based on what Kainzo said, technically it wasn't illegal. I wasn't trying to get their stuff or anything. I gtped them back to their chests lol.

I suppose that is where malicious intent comes in. There is no real harm in joking around.

However the problem lies in the gray area. Explained like this it makes perfect sense. But in game, people don't necessarily know the context of the situation, and then later on do it in a pvp type situation and get in trouble.

Hopefully they are reading this forum. I really don't want to sound like I'm nagging for more rules. But I used to be what is called a knowledge author for a large company. My job was to update a knowledgebase and wiki so to me more documentation is always better.

It would be impossible to document every little thing, and mods have the respect of staff to make judgement calls based on situations as they come up. Ideally we would take the ones that are most questioned, and update them in the wiki.

How does one report harassment in o chat? Should I open a PE and type out the discussions? Or share screenshots in some way?

Occasionally when mods aren't on I'll see hateful, homophobic or racist comments, and nothing is obviously done at the time.

For example -- I won't name names but this morning I saw the following comments in o chat:

* i placed the bounty cus ur a faggot. whos mum must be fked up to give birth to something like u. must be an inbred.

* quit being a little fucking queer bait.

It's a little annoying to get griefed or get killed unfairly --- but the kind of chat like referenced above, is in my opinion disgusting and hateful, and does not foster constructive play. I'm happy to share screenshots and specifics if requested.

bounty rigging question:

recently I've been seeing the following two scenarios

1. Somebody is bountied, and they announce in /o chat "free bounty at spawn" and then just stand there not fighting while they are killed. This seems to border on pre arranged IMO

2. Somebody is bountied, they see a player coming who surely wants to take it. They then announce in /o chat oh hey buddy, how are you doing friend wanna take my bounty? I'll just stand here and we can split money friend.

This is them knowing the rules regarding friends, and making it so the other person will look very guilty if they kill them even if they aren't even friends.

What are your thoughts on these two scenarios?

Using GTP to kill, harass, abuse, Etc has always been illegal. Don't know who told you it was ok, never heard that myself.

Also, the rules are on the wiki but there are many many unwritten rules, and not every rule can be written. There is/was a rule council that was supposed to go over rules and stuff, however I don't know their level of activity.
This rule only applies to gtps confirmed in trade chat, all others do NOT have to follow this rule. That's what I've been told recently by Tim at least :p

btw @kperkins1982 do I get to rekt Kainzo for the bounty? :D

1. This could count as rigging IMO, because they pretty much are trying to just arrange it with anyone. however not announcing it wouldn't be as I see it.

2. you can usually know who is a friend of someone and who isn't, if the person that collects the bounty isn't really friends and doesn't split the money then it isn't rigging.

Are there any rules for Staff Conduct? If not, can we get some written up? And if so, what are they?

I'm seeing a high demand for clear, specific guidelines for Staff conduct, and I, too, would like to take the guesswork out of whether or not Staff are stepping out of bounds, and entitle players to their dignity.

I've seen you on the forums over the past few days and I don't know any of the senior staff who would do things that you describe. If it's new staff members, possibly, but there are guidelines on how we're to act.

Every staff position is given guidelines on how to act under the title. These are not public because they don't need to be. If you have issues with staff find either the Senior Team member, or go to the mods. If you that big a problem with mods or seniors, talk to TimForReal. Staff is his department.

Ah, I apologize. I didn't know the rules of Staff conduct were so hush-hush! :p

I just don't want to misuse the Petition/Report system, if certain behaviors are allowed within the rules of Staff Conduct. I'll do my best to wing it, and try guessing what the rules are, judging by what they are on other servers, if that's what you'd suggest.

Thank you for your assistance.

I have no reason to lie. I'm a paying player, and prior to some recent incidents, Herocraft maintained #1 on my Server List, and I had pretty much quit all of the others. Why would I lie? I gain nothing by it! Most people I've talked to choose to swallow their complaints, rather than be Bounty-spammed, as I have been. Believe me, I'm not in the practice of drawing so much unwanted attention upon myself. :-/

My screenshots of the conduct I'm talking about were rejected, so I don't know if I'm mistaking what IS and IS NOT acceptable behavior, because I guess the guidelines for Staff are kept secret, Staff-Only.

PE's are for greifing, problems such as titles lost or gaining veteran titles, getting chat channels etc.
The only way to misuse it is to pe nothing, troll, or use it to get staff attention when you're muted etc (that doesn't include being unmuted).

The report button on the forums is for harassment, porn, stuff that shouldn't be there etc.

I think confusion can sometimes arise regarding the different levels of staff.

Not so much emphasis has been placed on the behavior of junior staff.

It's important for ALL players how have been appointed to any level of staff to understand they represent the server and set the tone for the community.

I'm not saying you're lying, sorry if it came off that way :3

So, I don't know if this was covered but:

The names used here are purely for the purpose of telling the concept, and have no material meaning in game.

So let's say Trazil places a bounty on MunchlaxZero, and MunchlaxZero is just trying to level. Trazil follows MunchlaxZero around, until Jreems wants MunchlaxZero's bounty. So Jreems attacks MunchlaxZero for his bounty, but Trazil steals the kill, thus making the bounty last longer in PvE. Is this legal?

Apologies to Trazil, MunchlaxZero, and to a lesser extent Jreems, I was just using your names as placeholders.

Probably depends on the intent Trazil (as used in this example) had. If it was for the sake of trolling Munch or it was an accident, it would be legal. If it were in the intent to make the bounty last longer or something along these lines, then it would be illegal. Especially so if he were doing it in the intent to farm.

Some people were doing that before and they got banned for a day or two I believe. It was considered abusing the bounty mechanics to be able to kill people repeatedly.

Of course accidents can happen, but if it in any way seems intentional they can get in trouble.

I'll see if I can find the link to the thread discuss it.

Found it. http://herocraftonline.com/main/threads/bounty-riggings-little-brother-needs-to-be-put-down.57411/
The result is not stated there but some people got banned.

Edit: This probably should be added as a rule under the bounties section on the wiki.

It is illegal if the intent is to permanently keep the bounty on to harass the user, however you are allowed to get someone else to place a bounty for the soul purpose of you being able to get the selected person into combat.
