    I think it should just be for specs. If everyone (including non-specs) were able to use them, it may turn people away from speccing into something because they already have access to potions. In other words, potions can be an incentive to spec.

    if you guys are having trouble, try renaming it to minecraft.jar. When you download, it comes as minecraft1.1.jar, just delete the 1.1 and try to launch the game (make sure you delete your old jar).

    I agree with either or both of the skills you mentioned. Rangers, while powerful from range, are practically useless if someone is up in their face. To give them a fair chance, disengage would be great to pull off an extra shot or two.

    Actually, anyone can use potions currently - on the test server I am not an alchemist but I used every single potion my Alch friend made for me. I'm a little scared that potions + enchanting will be pretty OP for warrior classes that can use swords, but I am sure this will be balanced out...

    I recommend you get the improved chat mod, that way you can bind skills to keys (such as sneak to Z or assassin's blade to R, etc). Towns are completely player made, and I would wait until the new map on the 6th to start asking around for which town to join.

    I have no experience with potions, but a healing potion doing 25-30 health does seem like a lot. I agree about your netherwart idea, we need a better way of obtaining it so people can actually level it up. On a side note, can other non-alchemists use the potions alchemists make? If not, I...
