There should be a cool add on where you must have a certain amount of karma to join a guild or a faction. Like having evil karma to join an assassin guild (Dark Brotherhood). Or good karma to join the companions. That way people would try to get their karma to go both ways and people would be more focused on the questing and karma.

Well if a guild or faction was serious about the orientation of their organization they would enforce it themselves. Having a requirement would be limiting. But anyways, we are offtopic.

One question on this: If your a ranger and completed a dungeon. What if you received a tool or armor that you cant use?

Then you can sell it. We'll be having randomized loot tables.

Pretty sure Karma has always been planned to be used with quests.

There has been the idea tossed around that you could only accept certain quests if you were of a set Karma level but I don't think we will be granting Karma as quest rewards.

Yes it can. A while back, I helped test it out with Kain, unless it was changed recently.

melee damage works but last I checked skills are unable to target NPC. This would then provide a major disadvantage to casters and other low melee damage classes.

But it will make more sense to use a weapon like a sword or axes because magic will harm the enemy while a blade will kill an enemy. (Real Life) Then again magic isn't real :p

Can anyone point me in the right direction of some easy videos on how to setup / start my own server so I can play with writing quests ? Also, can an Admin confirm the NPC / Quest Mod being used in HC and the version so I can play with the correct Mod ? Thanks

Citizens 2 and Denizens. Look up on http://wiki.bukkit.org/ on how to set up a bukkit server for Minecraft 1.6.2. There are pages for citizens and Denizens. The latest is what we'll be working with. @Danda.

Grave Yard Quests

Grave Robber- A quest where you seek out a cowardly grave robber and convince him to return the loot.

Tales From The crypt- A quest where you enter a crypt and fight off skellies to get to a gravestone and place flowers to calm them down.

Death's Proposal- Bring death soulsand and you "reap" the benefits

Desecrated Ground- A quest where a cleric requests your assistance in cleansing an area with holy water and fighting off zombies (of course).

Head Hunter- This is for the pvpers, offer a questline that allows for the trading of heads for exp

Well you get the idea, I think graveyard quests would be cool and encourage exploration.

Hello,

I don't know wether or not this is still an active thread, it seems to date a while... Nevertheless, even though i'm relatively new to the server, I've been writing quests for a while, was content director on another RPG server, and was in charge of the lore, writing up the quests as well as coding them, (We worked on it for 6 months then it fell through, but i'd written and coded about 50 quests in total, that took the player over 3000 square blocks of fully original content)

If the plugin you are using is Quester, I'd be happy to get in, I even wrote a guide for it, featured by Ragan69, the plugin's creator on his page.
http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/quester/pages/documentation/

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B-TYxWh8WaJ6eWlGUl9sb3c3c2M/edit

I'd be happy to help out with herocraft's quest system.

Thanks.

Ideally, it might make most sense if we have a specific thread where people submit ideas for quests to discuss. The cream of the crop get selected by you, and people bounce around flaws/ideas a bit more.
The easiest thing I figured you guys could've done with the old NPCs would have been simple Labourer tasks.

Talk to NPC, NPC says "Ooh, my back is giving me gyp, can you harvest 4 of X for me", depending on what the item they produce is.
So, a farmer near a field would ask the player to harvest 4 pieces of wheat for them. In exchange, they give you a little bit of money.

That'd be a repeatable quest, focused around farming. It'd be great for people building up their crafting. Only issue I see is inevitably rushes of players will trample the crops, so maybe I'd suggest that amongst the payment for harvesting 4 wheat, in the payment is 1 seed. That way players have incentive to replant crops afterwards: not enforced, but implied.

I'd also suggest that a few of the quests around spawn areas strongly hint towards being particularly suited for certain classes, without being specific enough to make it impossible for other classes. That way players kind of get a sense of 'needing to be in a multi-talented party' even in PvE.

I'm not sure how complicated your NPC plugin is, but following an NPC's patrol in exchange for a little bit of experience, no money, such as say, a guard showing you around the area whilst doing his rounds guarding, might be a fun one that could be placed in multiple places with little change to the dialogue. Add in some mobs-spawning in when the NPC is in certain areas, and it's an escort quest! And everybody loves escort quests. :p Seriously though, they can be fun, and it can make sense.

... I write far too much. And ramble. Hopefully that's useful. or... some of it, anyhow.

Is this a definite team...? Cause if so, then I guess I could apply if this thread is still relevant to anything happening ingame.

So basically, if this is a team Mr Sir @Danda then where do I apply or how do I show me-self worthy of writing quests, which I have already done a bit of.
