So whats been going on over the last week and a half?
Whats the word from the source?

I have heard something recently regarding Bard change ups that I had not heard elsewhere yet. What all is going on?[DOUBLEPOST=1374094892,1374035640][/DOUBLEPOST]Is someone putting together a huge post or is everyone just gone? :eek:
The test box got upgraded to 1.6. Unfortunately, 1.6 is buggy as hell and most of the normal mods are not updated. I pretty much lost any motivation to work on stuff once this happened. This probably goes for everyone else that strolls through the test server as well, as I've seen very little traffic on it. With no players on test, there's no testing to be done. Until things get moving with 1.6, you won't see much going on here.

I've been busy playin Hexxit though, so even if I could test, I doubt i would be doing so. :p

I have to admit, I love the mini cleric rework that has taken place, but there is really no reason to choose mystic over cleric anymore (heal wise). Although yes, mystic does have might, and a lot of utility, cleric now has 2 AoE heals, if you want to count holyaura, 3.

Mystic has 1 AoE HoT which rarely out heals burst, it then has 3 targetable heals, 2 in which are HoT. Keep in mind that cleric also has 2 other targetable heals. Eldry stated earlier that mystic would fit better in large fights while clerics would fit better in small fights, I totally disagree. Cleric has the capability to cause their party to recover from large amounts of burst or even avoid burst by using guardian angel while mystic can keep 1 or 2 teammates alive very effectively, but I could see cleric doing the same thing.

I understand people say, "you shouldn't compare mystic and cleric", but we all know that they are the two sole healers on the server. (You don't normally see a cleric or mystic solo raiding unlike bloodmage and disciple)

This really isn't a qq post, but I do feel like cleric is an overall better mystic, minus some cc. Like delf said, I think mystic could use a rework, we've been trying to change the class little by little but it just doesn't seem right still.
I pretty much agree here. Like I said before, I got caught up with Disciple and left Cleric as-is.

In my previous post, I stated that all healers should be "on the same level", and I meant that. A Cleric should only be more valuable than a mystic in "certain scenarios", but certainly not "every situation". Just because Cleric has the "best heals" should not mean it is the "best healer" or "best class". Just thinking of that being the case kind of makes me grit my teeth a little. If the Cleric has the best heals, it must be weaker in other areas, if a healer does not have the best heals, he must have other strengths to compensate. This is the kind of balance we are meant to be doing here.

This is my view on how the classes should be shaped.

Just my thoughts anyways. Obviously, Kainzo could have different thoughts on the manner.

As far as Mystic goes, I'd love to add something else to them. It is undoubtedly a solid class, but there just seems to be something missing from it. Despite the fact that it has an overwhelming number of abilities, I feel as though it has very little. Most of their abilities are not directly combat related, and are thus merely fluff. I have a few ideas of what I could do with it, but I don't know if I should focus more on their healing, utility, or damage. After you see the Cleric changes I've posted, it will undoubtedly be agreed that the Mystic has the lowest PvE capabilities, and I'm not entirely comfortable with that.

But yeah, I finally got around to tweaking cleric up a bit, which I will post the results of below. These are entirely untested due to the low test server traffic and lack of a released macro mod. Once the mod releases we should start seeing more action on test, and can actually try to balance things out.

True, I have dominated every team in every tournament match I have played except for one. Cleric is going to be a good healer again, the best? Most likely. But Mystics are not what they were and are proving very formidable.
I would like to see a long time Mystic run a team of 6 against a long time Cleric and see how the battles go.
Cleric would win. Both new and old. Cleric simply has too much going for it to be able to lose any fight like that. Additionally, due to mystics being buff based rather than direct heal based, you do not benefit from having multiples, as buffs do not stack.

Not sure where exactly you heard about the bard thing, to be honest I don't remember telling very many people about it. I'm either derping and forgetting I mentioned it somewhere, or I've got a rumor startin friend hangin around! :p

But yeah, I was thinking about reworking it. However, with so many other things on our plate right now, I have decided to hold off on it. I'd like to make sure that Kainzo even approves of the changes I've been making so far before I go devoting any more time towards more revamps.

On a side note: Good lord the full changelog is getting long. God knows how many tiny little errors I've got hanging around in it by now. >.>

Most of the following changes are about 2 weeks old, I just never got around to posting them. However, the Cleric stuff is all new, for the most part.

Debuff Removal Based Abilities:
    Abilities that remove buffs and debuffs now check to see if the ability is dispellable before attempting to remove them.
    Bleeds and Physical based effects are no longer dispellable, and can only be removed by abilities that explicitly state they remove these types of effects.

So, I made a couple of big changes to Bard here. Overall, it's a nerf. I understand that Bard is not the most appealing class for a lot of players, and that's something I'd eventually like to address, but currently, I find the level of support they provide to be too high. They are easily one of the most valuable classes in a teamfight, and stacking multiple Bards allows their team to reach some pretty insane levels of power.

VoidSong is currently the longest silence in the game, and it is an AoE--a very large one at that. The power it has on initiation is second to none. VoidSong wins fights. Plain and simple. I have never once thought it was balanced, but I have taken a while to get around to it just because I didn't want to "kill the class".

It's essentially the same story with MelodicBinding. The slow on this ability is the highest in the game. Additionally, it prevents players from being able to jump over blocks. This is too powerful. I haven't played around much with these changes, but I think that it shouldn't be too far off from a balanced state.

In general, I'd like to play more with Cleric / Bard once we actually get enough players around to do so. I've chosen all of these numbers on no more than a whim, and they are really in need of some solid testing before they can be finalized.

I've been playing around with Mystic recently, and I think the playstyle has gotten much more "fun" and appealing to play. The HoT skills are so unique to Mystic, along with Earthwall, that the class has a lot of benefits that no other class possesses. Bolt, while not unique to the class, gives it well-roundedness that you don't see in many other classes. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the Mystic rework. Though, I still wonder why it's still an extremely unpopular class.

So, I believe just about everything is in a good state right now. There could be some potential balance issues with GrappingHook, and I still haven't been able to flesh out cleric like I want to, but other than that, I'm feeling good about the changes.

However, I am displeased with the state Runeblade is in. There are too few skills, and the class plays entirely too burst-like. I do not wish for it to be a bursty class, and thus, I have decided to start working on some changes. Doing this so close to the release of the update might not be the best idea in the world, but I'm going to really try and get some solid testing in today / tomorrow. I'm expecting to need a lot of minor tweaks in that time, but this is what I've got so far.
