Haha, I see where this person is coming from. For me personally, I don't expect everyone to treat me like they would do irl, so i am not significantly affected by this. And some people do need to learn that communicating with text and with people you don't actually get to see eye-to-eye isn't the best way to go about things. This is why I like to be on teamspeak a lot, hearing someone's voice is a lot more personal to me than seeing plain text.

Usually, by not expecting kindness, i get more impress every time i meet someone who is kind. This usually allow me to return the kindness back with even more kindness. And if someone's being a douche, i accept it and respond back with the least hostility as I can, and that person usually leaves me alone. When i see a person getting killed once in Herocraft and they are swearing and throwing a tantrum on /o chat, I usually see that person getting killed again, or they might kill the person that killed them first and then that person usually comes back for revenge. It then turn into an all out war between the two.

Nice sentiment, but do you really expect that much from the people you speak to in real life either?

If somebody acts like a child by bitching about a game or whatever, treat them like a child, hell wind them up more (Makes entertaining /o chat).

Not that anyone should really care what an anonymous video gamer thinks or says...

I little corny, but I loved the message. Very important to remember, and very obviously not lived by many of us (especially me).

I thought it worth displaying that the lack of awareness extends beyond a physical separation. We don't need a computer screen to forget about other people. We do it all the time. Employees of service and retail are just one example of how a person can be victimized by another's misdirected anger. Instead of expressing displeasure with the situation, we often blame those involved and exert our efforts against them.

We do it all the time.
When was the last time you assaulted your fast-food server and smashed a window?
The video Neo posted was entitled "A real person, a lot like you." Your video could (should?) have been entitled "A real person, not like you AT ALL." (and if anyone on these forums is like that woman... please get help)

In short, you [should] know as well as I do that our inhibitions ARE lowered over the internet. Yes, we are inclined to be upset with customer service or silently judge/hate someone on the street for something they did, but we do much worse over the web. We harass, we name call, we abuse and murder repeatedly, we steal and lie and backstab and scam. Just remember that the person you're being a jerk to over the web is a real person. And if you'd do the same things to them in real life... stop being a jerk...

I have always endeavoured to be the same person in all contexts, but better. I am under no illusions that you are "less real" than a person on the street, or a friend. If you were sitting on a chair across from me, I'd probably say exactly what I say here, except for this exact sentence, which would make no sense in that setting and look rather silly.

Brutal chimes the best bell in my opinion. You seem to assume that we all become e-thugs the second we plug in our ethernet cables. Your video gave two examples of people being absurdly inconsiderate. It attributes it to a computer screen and the growing online population. I'm just trying to clarify that the internet has little to do with people being absurdly rude to one another. In other words... stop blaming the internet and realize "you're just a douche".

And one more thing... I wouldn't think twice about stealing someones digital gold ingots if I met them irl. :p

To anyone who's ever played "Shadows Over Camelot" with a table of friends: you can all be the closest pals and spend the best of times together, but something happens when you get dealt the Traitor card, and suddenly you become the most manipulative asshat you could ever dream of. But nobody takes offense, and it's all in good fun, because when they last sword is lain on the round table, it was just a game after all, and you were there not to win or lose, but to play together.

If you'll notice my first post, I meant to be speaking for myself. If you think there's none of that stuff going on by other people all around this forum, then.... okay? If you guys truly don't have lowered inhibitions when you go online, then I simply wouldn't want to meet you in real life.

Doreagarde, I think you succeed in your endeavors.

THAT BITCH IS CRAZY! I used to work drive through at a local joint when I was younger, I would have straight up slapped that bitch back into her car and told her to tits or gtfo.

THAT CRAZY HACKER! I knew people that worked as admins on a local server a while ago, they would have straight up banned that cheater back into his loggin screen and told him to stfo.

Haha... maybe it would make more sense if you had added a "yes" option to your ban appeal. But I can see why that would get depressing real fast, especially with the "multiple votes" option available.
