The History of the Hope Chain. Hope's End to Orion.
Pictures To Come Soon.
NB: This should not be taken as fact until someone else confirms the events. I am known to make stuff up to plug gaps in my own memory.
Gather round children to hear the story of Orion and it's predecessors...
Our story begins back in February, MoB is still powerful, and thanks to lots of moneymaking citizens can make new towns. Blaker280 and ReedMe are assigned to make a satelite town inbetween ORE and TOP. This town was named Hope's End. Blaker and Reed were both a bit architectually challenged, so they brought in Spraymaster who went to build a giant wooden apartment block. Not the best looking of things but was an interesting landmark. Thamerwaste joined not long after this, having building skills, he was made to build most of the stuff in the town that was needed, but because he had nothing better to do, complied.
The town started growing at an alarming pace from then on. Many people joined, and before long they were official. This was great, no more worry of getting ganked while building. The town grew a lot, then got a city ring. MoB fell and Hope's End were a random town in the middle of a cluster of hostile towns. This didn't matter and they continued with work. Jorict and Draskuul joined at this point. Jorict being a fighter quickly set up the towns militia, Draskuul a builder helped Thamerwaste out with the large undertakings that Blaker threw upon them. Doogler joined after this and quickly found his place in the militia.
Hope's End obtained capital and work started on defences. Jorict created a town to the north and Spraymaster one to the south. Blakers asspirations for kingdom were taking shape. Aesi joined them from another town and was quickly useful in providing money and labour, ADaringEnchilada also came along, but didn't warrant the same importance. The town was taking shape, a muddled, messy shape, but a shape nonetheless. ReedMe went inactive due to real-life issues.
Then the announcement came. Blaker had decided we were going to move the town. At first it was a radical plan, but as we thought about it, it started to make sence. Move away from all the enemies, and start fresh. They scouted for areas suitable and finally decided upon a location, far south near the edge of the map. Lapis had not long been released so it was a nice bonus that there was some in the map extention we were going to build on.
This time the town was different. Instead of building one thing around another and making a muddled mess, it was meticulously planned, and Blaker thankfully had nothing to do with the building. The town took a long time to get up, making multiple trips back and forth to get materials from Hope's End. When the town was finished it was christened as New Hope, Blaker wasn't too good with names.
New Hope was an OCD suffers dream. Not a single block out of place (on public buildings). Draskuul was made Second in Command of this new iteration. Things were running smoothly for them. Building and occasionally PvPing. Then HolyRane came along from Neverast. His Bloodlines guild appealed to Blaker, and New Hope went from peaceful start up to evil guild residence. With Bloodlines hated by many, in extension New Hope became hated and a hotbed for PvP and general idiocy. iFizzE and xpeterc1 arrived around this point, and were helpful to the town, building and PvP'ing.
When HolyRane was banned, the Bloodlines in the town; GreyP ,babb1e and others either left or went inactive. This made our town peaceful again and mass building could resume. xpeterc1 built an automatic mushroom and wheat farm, also a locking system for the herogate. This is when Blaker got bored.
He decided to go off to another server at the end of March, and wanted some of the New Hope citizens to go with him. He did it horribly and maliciously, and got banned for it in the end. Draskuul assumed the Mayoral position, and iFizzE was the SiC.
Draskuul didn't like having all the power, and decided to start up a radical system for town leadership, the Council.
This meant no more dictatorship town, there were citizens making the decisions, for a fairer, more democratic township. This idea interested other towns, and was later adopted by many. The first council members were Thamerwaste, xpeterc1, Aesi and Doogler.
The township had no large milestones or events after this. They just sat on the edge of the map, building, defending and thieving (which had recently been made legal). One citizen stood out among the rest, he was a Youtuber, BebopVox. He had done a segment on Herocraft and enjoyed the server so much he stayed. If you look at his past videos, he uses New Hope as a backdrop for texture pack reviews.
ADaringEnchilada was adopted into the council for all of his work for the town not long after. Then came news of the map wipe. The server went very inactive, no-one wanted to do work if it was going to be lost so quickly. New Hope started to plan for the wipe.
The wipe came, and they set off on the new map to find a suitable location off in the South East. Secluded like our last town, we also called this one New Hope.
Work went well, and New Hope was one of the first towns ready. Unfortunately the server wasn't ready, and people started going inactive. There was very little protection, and eventually Draskuul got sick of it and left. Aesi followed suit and left a rift in the New Hope group.
The displaced bunch, lead by iFizzE and mung3r, got an offer from TrinityDown to join the Shinda Sekai Sensen or SSS. iFizzE accepted and New Hope moved to its current location and became Orion. The town was built quite quickly and thrived under the leadership of the SSS, fighting in wars and trading.
The SSS eventually fell, and Orion became its own town, separate from everyone else. The council now consisted of: Doogler, ADaringEnchilada, Thamerwaste, Rofii and Trizze.
Orion is a generally peaceful township now, with Aegis to the far East; With ADaringEnchilada as mayor, and Greydon (Soon to be township, with Thamerwaste as the mayor) to the east between them, it is well on its way to kingdomship.
Thus ends the story. I go into more detail in the beginning because of the fact there are almost no people from there left now, bar me,and the fact I could be more bothered when I began to go into details.
Disclaimer: Again, this may not all be true, this is just my memory (which has been shown to fail).
