Mistah Kurtz- he dead.

The Hollow Men

A penny for the Old Guy

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when

We whisper together
Are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass

In our dry cellar
Shape without form, shade without colour,
Paralysed force, gesture without motion;
Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us - if at all - not as lost

Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men
The stuffed men.

Eyes I dare not meet in dreams
In death's dream kingdom

These do not appear:
There, the eyes are
Sunlight on a broken column
There, is a tree swinging
And voices are

In the wind's singing
More distant and more solemn
Than a fading star.
Let me be no nearer
In death's dream kingdom

Let me also wear
Such deliberate disguises
Rat's coat, crowskin, crossed staves
In a field
Behaving as the wind behaves

No nearer -
Not that final meeting
In the twilight kingdom

This is the dead land
This is cactus land

Here the stone images
Are raised, here they receive
The supplication of a dead man's hand
Under the twinkle of a fading star.
Is it like this

In death's other kingdom
Waking alone
At the hour when we are
Trembling with tenderness
Lips that would kiss

Form prayers to broken stone.

The eyes are not here
There are no eyes here
In this valley of dying stars
In this hollow valley

This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms
In this last of meeting places
We grope together
And avoid speech
Gathered on this beach of the tumid river

Sightless, unless
The eyes reappear
As the perpetual star
Multifoliate rose
Of death's twilight kingdom

The hope only
Of empty men.

Here we go round the prickly pear
Prickly pear prickly pear
Here we go round the prickly pear

At five o'clock in the morning.
Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act

Falls the Shadow
For Thine is the Kingdom
Between the conception
And the creation
Between the emotion

And the response
Falls the Shadow
Life is very long
Between the desire
And the spasm

Between the potency
And the existence
Between the essence
And the descent
Falls the Shadow

For Thine is the Kingdom
For Thine is
Life is
For Thine is the
This is the way the world ends

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.

This is actually a lot more interesting than Rane made it sound. Communism hasn't had a good track record in the real world, but I'll keep an eye on this, I'm interested in seeing how you guys handle this.

Sounds interesting, though it goes against every single aspect of my play style and mentality. It'll be interesting to see where this goes, though I suspect it'll go over much like communism usually does. I have no intention of joining you but look forward to hearing about what happens.

This is pretty good. If you guys can pull it off, you'd definitely be the most effective group in the map. But people aren't perfect.

Liking the idea, good luck. ;)

On all the testmaps, I have done something similiar to this. Albeit not at this scale, we all just share chests in a main room. Honestly, test maps aren't there for very long, so each person attempting to hoarde things is just counterproductive and a waste of time. I just gather a few friends and we all use everything. Nobody is denied anything, and since I handpick my people, they all know not to be a dick. Nobody walks around in full diamond while others scrounge with stone tools. Basically, this is an amazing idea, but it has major flaws. Mainly, corruption. With any organizing structure in communism, things just start to crumble, you gotta all be equals. Not just equal in the way your house works, not just equal in votes. But equal in how you feel. If the townies FEEL they are forced to give up their possessions, then this will fall apart. You have to let them know they aren't giving it away, they are just putting in a pot.

I'm going to try to address any points that come up in the comments here above in the question section, so if you have any direct points you want me to hit that I may have missed in your post, just line them up and I will respond.

I believe the best way to deal with this would be to let new players move into apartments and after proving themselves as an equal member of the collective they are awarded a house plot. Nothing too big, just something for them to reside in and call home in privacy should they wish.

Or give everyone two plots. A pre-built structure above ground, and a free-build area below ground.

I'm really interested to see how this turns out.

Woo, we finally got a thread :)

Also, I noticed you said "hord" in some places, it's spelled "hoard" (sorry, grammar... communist here)

Looking forward to this. I PMed Rane revised class info.

a double redstone door lock with redstone torches as well as a way in which the city can automatically lock down the entirety of every house in the city.

I really want to see how this would be wired, I'm not even sure if that is possible.

It's doable, it's just gonna require some creative wire-hiding, hehe.
