Would be cool if they could have a loan system, similar to how town taxes work.
Banker uses the loan skill on player who wants a loan, that player must accept (much like accepting a party invite). Every week that goes by percentage of the amount owed is automatically deducted from players account (sorta how town taxes can work). When debt reaches zero, the skill/spell used on that player is no longer active.

Could possibly have it so a percentage can be set at time of skill casting (10%-50%).
Also could have it so the banker can set the actual amount that must be payed back.
Payments can be arranged between players - the skill doesn't manage anything with that. The banker's still going to make money of debts (like credit cards) as long as that player has any funds.

Besides that stuff, maybe have them buy and sell iron and diamonds too? and make the chest shops to go with them?

I am against this profession.

1. Most people come to spawn to exchange their gold to coins. Bankers profession will ultimately replace DHX but combined with the high cost of renting spawn plots, Spawn will be less of a spawn and more like a ghost town. (and wizards will lose their jobs.)

2. Everyone except bankers will not want to smelt their ores. They will seek out bankers who will smelt their ores. This will complicate the already complicated process of turning gold into coins. Bankers will charge a certain amount of coins, etc. etc. etc. I can predict that the trade channel will be flooded with requests to bankers smelting their ores.

Suggestion:

Bankers professions are suited for Town Owners. That person is only able to exchange gold to coin and vice versa. This will definitely attract all players to join a town.

On the Other Hand:

Bankers profession means more gold is added to the economy. When there's more money in the economy, there will be inflation. There are enough gold sinks in the server (i.e rents, speccing, etc) but there isn't enough interest that drives the economy. Interests would be malls like a Trade District (which will counter the effect of the disappearance of dhx at spawn), where people gather to buy and sell things. Other interests is selling exclusive in-obtainable items, such as decorative portals, etc. or other small non-gamebreaking perks purchasable only with coins. This will make people actually want to have/spend more coins, and drives the whole economy.

Chance of mining more gold than normal? Idk like you find a gold ore and there is a chance you get more than just 1 ore from it?

I am for this idea if I get to keep my banker title. :)

Hmm, the 'taxes' skill idea gave me an idea <_<

How about a skill that helps your town? I mean like, something like
'Whenever you kill a mob, x% chance of giving x coin(s) to town bank.'
So you'd kinda like donate some coin, without actually losing a few coins.
That's assuming the banker is in a town.

Thing is, older players tend to get bored of towns, I've been bored of them for 2 maps now. I enjoy the banker profession a lot. The idea is something new and will bring a Sanctum feel back (FUCKING PUMPED!) I however think that whichever way you go with it, make it friendly with the players who live in PRs and wild homes.

I agree with your post. Spawn will become a ghost town if bankers are allowed to trade their gold into coins while being in any location. Ports to spawn will be next to non-existent if DHX is wiped out. Have it that only Bankers can sell their gold at DHX and this will solve some of the issues.

Most of these ideas like bank accounts, interest, and higher gold drop rates allow bankers to make more money. The current implementation of bankers already allows them to make a fair amount of coin and I doubt the staff will want to add to that. I think what they are looking for is less-powerful utility skill ideas that don't go into the realm of other professions.

STDs4YouAnd4Me Lindblum If the DHX is the feature that attracts the most visitors to the spawn, I don't think that is an argument against bankers, I think that points out a problem with the spawn. Last map, the spawn had a mob arena, a casino, hero gates, pvp arenas, a traders district, a dungeon, and housing prices that weren't unbelievably high.

Fair enough. As far as I can see people go to spawn for quests and selling gold. Unless they want to pay alexhoff1 a visit, there's not much going on at spawn. I think spawn will improve in time. There has to be a reason why mob arenas, casinos, hero gates, pvp arenas, a trading district, and dungeons were taken away. I can bet my bottom dollar that at least half of those will make their way back to spawn in due time, hopefully.

Why thank you for tagging me.
I only ever see 10 people at spawn at the best of times, usually thats my party too. ha.
would be nice to see it get revived, the black market is not happening it seems, herogates are off, and wizards don't care to port people there most of the time.

And with Jungles and the immense water amounts after the addition of Oceans and the rivers that are usually in Jungles, it's just not worth it to go to spawn by foot D:

If someone pointed out that when buying a port for once they may get a discount.
Not "I don't want to walk ):"

Also, rail systems are a pain to create. I wish we could get the biggest kingdoms to agree to make a Y6 railway of old from spawn ):
Great days, towns along the roads.
Roads extending the map, 8 wide roads....
):
Though a bit offtopic, it would be great to make something for bankers to be useful again.

A little offtopic, but it really seems like the expansion on Bastian has only been an Ocean biome, at least from the 2 sides I've ventured out in. If that's the case, ouch.
