There is discussion that the site is giving hacked clients to people to they can play Minecraft. I am sure Mojang would care since it is hitting their wallets.

Do you have any proof of this? I'll call GoDaddy up right now and let them know that a site on their network is distributing pirated software. I've also heard the clients they're distributing might be infected with malware (i.e. the kind that turns your computer into a zombie which is then used in DDoS attacks like this.) GoDaddy will shut them down immediately. This info could also probably be used to get Viasite to shut them down as well.

If anyone can find some proof of this I will give them a generous reward.

You can always call Viasite and say "Habla Ingles?" I am sure the Brazilians understand Spanish too and would find someone who speaks decent English. I don't think Mojang gives a crap.

Anyways, I just got done reading all of these replies, skimming the massive ones because I dun lyke readin, and thought of a few things.

1- No, @Jinder745 DDOSing them back would make us wee lil' babies like them. :3 <3

2- @victim130 For the facebook thing, like Herocraft on facebook and it'd be nice if you posted a status, or something that just makes your fellow gamers aware that CraftLame is being douchey and to stay away from them.

3- @everyone Seeing how much research our community is doing and just the amount of effort you all are doing to help out the server you play on makes me a happy panda. We have such a great community of people and NO ONE can tear us down. WEEEEW!

Why not try banning all Brazilian IP's from the server temporarily? I figure that all the pirated software they're distrubuting is most likely how they're are making a botnet to DDoS in the first place. Its also the reason he probably banned all other IP's besides Brazilian ones from accessing his website.

"Banning IPs" does nothing. It just means they can't connect to the server. They can still send massive amounts of requests and our server has to analyze them.

I think the only reason he is denying access from non-Brazil IPs is to obscure their site and community. I don't think he wants anyone to know what's going on with them. It is not a DDoS protection.

Also, my guess is that he is in control of a sizable botnet that he most likely purchased from someone. While it is possible they are using their MC clients to gain zombie computers, it would be hard to get enough to do this much damage.

How to get malicious code out on clients with Java as such an perfect carrier, and the Minecraft community with its huge numbers of users. Perfect targets as well, when so many disables firewalls, and antivirus to boost FPS or install plugins etc.

Developers with popular plugins that quits with new ones stepping in.

The risk may not be so high on the server side, but how many downloads would I get if I were to take on a popular client side plugin, added some malicious code and posted as an update.? or a new undetectable x-ray..

DDOS means that some of the HC members theoretically could right now be hammering the HC servers.

In a ddos attack, not only the target is a victim, all the zombies suffer performance issues. That's why its legally gets very risky and costly if you get sentenced.

Class FTW! but yeah this really sucks, My friend used to play on their server, Then he left because another server he was playing on, got DDOS'd heavily by them. Craftlandia = No Class. No Secretly we are gay. Too proud to admit bad things.

The other thing is his IP is brazillian so he can log into their website and see what going on.
