I agree, the noobs need a guild or a group of players that "defend" them... if anything this would spark MORE pvp because the amount of players that KOS anything is far too high. It's kind of like a game of precious cargo or VIP .. if you are old enough to remember the "VIP: Counterstrike 1.6" matches... was fun.

Old school counter strike was fun as hell, used to play it in the army, was even nastier after we went through a month long urban combat course.
Though it would be somewhat of a pain in the ass to have to defend new guys in such a way due to players who want to kill them trying to do so in mass (though they may not be so lucky if they get supprised "oh look a newb to kill.....OH #$%^# there are 4 65s with him!!!!") along with the players who just want pvp.
I would suggest that those who want to guard the new guys schedual a time (in private of course) and move a bunch in a convoy fashion, they cant get us all would be the common thought.

Oh and in case there is any new guys watching this forum (or anyone who would like) I have a tower in the works and could use someone to help with it (preferably and alchemist) And i am willing to come to spawn and help you get to my location. (if im in game and you just need an armed escort you can still ask ;) )

by the way @Kainzo it is always nice to know that you guys listen when we bring up points we consider problems

Something a bit off topic, yet somewhat related... In these 'PVE only' areas of the adventure map, I think the rare drops should be PVE gear. Much like WOW, in Dungeons you'd get rare drops that would help you further your progression of killing mobs, not players. However, in Contested areas of the adventure map, where PVP is enabled, it should drop rare PVP gear.

In a nutshell, I don't think it's fair that someone can farm strong PVP gear and there's NOTHING I can do about it because he is in a no-PVP zone.

Alternatively, instead of seperating PVP and PVE gear, you can have mediocre rare drops in No-PVP areas of the adventure map, and strong rare drops in PVP areas of the adventure map. Better/more experienced players would be interested in obtaining the best gear, and they SHOULD be vulnerable of getting killed because of it.

My 2 cents.

I would prefer this too, but i also agree it is essential noobs have a safe place to learn class and stuff as well. But yeah, if possible to make pvp / no pvp flag regions, best stuff should drop in pvp areas.

There's a good chance that the Adventure map will be mostly PVE. PVE is one facet of the server that is extremely lacking. While I feel that there should be contested areas, I feel we're letting down the core PVE players.

It will balance things out. People will build, defend towns, etc in Bastion but when it comes to farming gear, they will go to PVE and there will be minimal amount of PVP.
Woohoo. More pve! Because we don't get enough of it by mastering classes :L

That's why the PVE/Leveling experience is getting revamped altogether. Nobody enjoys killing mobs in order to level up. Nobody likes killing a spider and knowing exactly what sort of drop they'll get from it.

Kainzo and the powers to be are hoping that people will enjoy killing mobs with a variety of HP, skillset, and drops. They are hoping that people will enjoy entering dungeons that you can't solo, and you'd need a group of 4 or 5 people with you to conquer it. They are hoping to make use of Tank, DPS and Healer roles during the leveling experience in order to succeed.

Most of this is at a baby stage, but hopefully when it's all said and done people like me (who only look for PVP) will actually have fun grinding gear and grinding XP because it'll be a team effort, with an element of surprise during every mob encounter.

Honestly, I attempt to kill anyone I run into. However, I do not camp.

I have been known to occasionally kill a low level/new player and then chatting them up. Asking how they like the server so far/how they like their class/what they plan to spec in. I'll admit I don't do this enough as I should, but its interactions like this that might make the noobs learn. The best advice I try to give them is to level as quickly as possible and/or to join a town.

^ This here is false in its entirety. I and many others of my townmates would tell you that he not only camped us but also camped the low levels that weren't even specced. for time frames reaching as much as 2 hours. My god, good thing i'm here to stop the bullshit!

theyre members of the mighty silvermede though, so is it really considered camping?

that being said, i accuse stds of camping all the time. he's jealous that he doesnt get team kills, so when he finds a noob, he hangs around the graveyard and kills him over and over claiming that he's not camping him, but just standing at a spot and killing the noob for continuously coming to that spot. seems like camping to me. typically i just run away from noobs if i know it's not even close to being a fair fight. some times people ask nicely not to kill them any more, so i dont. other times noobs pm me and tell me to get a life and start throwing around insults. those people deserve to be camped over and over.

it's a fine line between camping, and playing the game

Zzzzzz... I am many things, a graveyard camper is not one of them. The only thing close to graveyard camping I've ever done was remain idle 100 blocks from a graveyard, and I killed a noob 2 or 3 times because he crossed my path. When he asked in Help chat if I can stop, I told him to pick another route next time. For the next 3 or 4 times he refused to take my advice and did the exact same thing; ran directly toward me. He still had the nerve to complain again in chat, and again, took the EXACT same path after dying another 2 times. Finally he went another direction and I assume eventually reached the destination he was headed for.

Sorry kids, but this is a form of 'helping noobs'. Telling a guy that if he wants to avoid trouble, he better find a different way. The world isn't black and white. Some would find this as a form of graveyard camping, others wouldn't. In the end, I hope this noob learned a lesson; the quickest way isn't always the best way.

stds is my boy. however, we never agree on things
Pretty sure graveyard camping requires me to stalk my prey. If I'm literally standing on the same block for all of those kills, I wouldn't call that graveyard camping, I'd call it stationary slaying.
