So, every time I log on, I stare sadly at the RP channel as it gathers dust and no one really says much, and then I had an idea!

I would like to promote more in-game roleplaying, including character sheets on the forum page with brief backgrounds and what not.

My question is, does this appeal to anyone, or would my efforts be a lost cause?

If all of this was more organized, then more may want to join in. Like, have an organized character system in the Roleplay section on the forums, try to get more Lore stuff for use, etc.,

There are a number of people that do stuff in the forums section, so it's worth a shot.

Thats what I was considering doing, but I wanted to see who on the server would be interested in it before I put forth that amount of work.

For those who don't know:

Lore, story, and background creates the world, it gives everything depth, meaning. Right now, it feels alot like we are just kids in a sandbox playing with legos, but if you think to any game out there, be it CoD to WoW, they have a story, the fighting has meaning.

So, if I get a good responce, I am willing to take the initiave to set up a place on the forum to post characters, set up RPs, and get more lore out there for our towns! We have stories, we've had wars, conflicts, peace treaties, and events, think about it all and look at the story your town has alrready written based on your gameplay, beleive it or not, alot of you are roleplaying, I just want to take it to the next step.

Well, I have to agree, as of now. I think I am the only one that has a proper Role Play going on... ._.

However, Proper Introductions of Role Play Characters should be I think in this format,
http://herocraftonline.com/main/threads/flint-of-the-west.38295/

and Role Playing on the forums should have a format of this sort.

http://herocraftonline.com/main/threads/the-tower-of-shadows.38444/

In all honor and respect towards Role Playing and the Staff's opinions I hope they would see fit and perhaps edit the Role Play section entirely. Makeing it more user friendly and possibly more "Role Play" like.

I'm not oppossed to editing and making it more user friendly - Alator can do it, or you can link me specific areas that need to be re-written and I'll do it when time permits.

Templates are always nice.

I think the situation with our server is that people look at it more for the PvP and tend to ignore the other aspects of the game.

Sidgil - I am without a tower for the next week, so I'm pretty bored. Message me here on the forums and I would be glad to help you with whatever your idea is. I support this 100% as a Avid DnD fan, Roleplayer on WoW, and an old-time RPer from Everquest...

Templates for people would be nice.

Right, so I’d assume a template as the person above suggested. Something like this:

Role Play Name: (FULL name)
Age: (Obvious)
Family: (If any)
Physical Description: (Body Structure, and examples)
Personality: (Emotions, Feelings, Life situations he/she/it is dealing with)
Weapons: (Swords, Bows, Knifes, carrots…?)
Life Story/ Diary:

That template is rather simple and decent, but we would have to discuss this further along the lines with the rest of the Staff members. Of course we need to see how many players will actually use this template, a petition of some sort would be necessary.

This is a base template I formed when I built my first sheet for Victor. Feel free to use it if you like.

Name: Victor Kaos (The First)

Gender: Male

Eyes: Blue

Hair: Black, short hair, just barely pulls over the top of his forehead.

Equipment/Clothing: Brown cloak over top of a light brown shirt and brown pants. A navy blue sheath rests on his left side with pink and gold stitching the material to the wooden shell. A katana built out of pure crystal that is enchanted with a soul of a great samurai from the past. He also wears duel arm blades that spring out from a mechanism on his wrists.

Body Build: He is generally slim, with very well looked after muscles. His intense training in the ways of a samurai show off.

Class: Samurai

Personality: Victor is a very calm and disciplined fighter who focuses on honorable combat; he can be cynical at times, but is mostly serious. Due to the loss of family members, he is usually distant to meeting new people, though his ties to the people he is close to are unbreakable, so much that he would break his own way of life to defend them.

Abilities: http://www.herocraftonline.com/wiki/Samurai - This is the base for which Victor was created, but in lore he is changed up a bit:

Victor is a master swordsman, trained in the way of combat and an expert at commanding the winds.

Samurai are skilled in the art of using the wind to their advantage. Victor uses the winds around him to increase his movement and attack speeds. The winds he commands can also be used as an offensive tool, creating sharp streaks after each swing. These streaks can be launched for ranged attacks, used to shield briefly or as follow up swings that cause deeper cuts. Either way, they hold the very same cutting power as his katana. Another form of wind manipulation he knows, allows him to create soothing breezes that create mirages that seem to burst into sakura petals if disturbed. All of his wind abilities dip into his magic energy, but mostly rely on his ki or stamina.

As a samurai, Victor is one of the top of his class, being claimed to be the very best. In his intense training he learned many techniques that allow him to not only be confident in deflecting and disarming weapons, but to also focus for a short time, briefly allowing him to foresee and parry physical attacks at 360 degrees.

The Zo, the influence and god-like figures of the Multiverse, once bestowed now forgotten powers to the samurai. The art of Inversion is a lost magical attack that not many samurai still remember. Victor can use this ability to shoot is large reserve of magical energy (Mana) into his opponent as a blue flame that shoots from his sword. This attack feeds on weaker enemies, generally being more potent to tired or magically exhausted foes.

One last art Victor knows is the art of becoming completely fearless. His eyes glow a bright red and the winds around him become blood thirsty. This curse from the Zo is branded on him for straying the path of honor in the defense of his home city. While his muscles become more agile, he loses his sensibility and becomes more prone to wounds.

Attributes: Victor is on par with a human who has trained for around ten years, but is within human reason; most of his power comes from his magic powers and extremely sharp sword. He focuses on being precise and fast over being strong and reckless.

Family: Non-biological Sister: Xanipher, Non-biological parents: Kaos (Father figure and master) Shenorai (Mother figure and care taker) All deceased.

Brief History: Victor was brought into the Multiverse as any other soul where he met Xanipher who became like a sister to him; with her help, Victor went on to train with Kaos to become a master blades-men. As the Sanctum era ended, Kaos and his wife Shenorai both died, leaving Victor and Xanipher to go on to the Zeal era. Victor went on to become the master Samurai during this time and then became the general of the Order of the Sun's army. As this era ended, Xanipher grew weak and eventually died, leaving Victor to join up with the new leaders, Xexo Rian and Sym Bo Lite. Currently, he fights as the lead general of the Order of the Sun under direct command from King Xexo based out of the military base Oasis in the Bastion Era.

Enemies:

The Legion of Oblivion: A rival kingdom bent on surpassing the Holy City Newerth (The Order of the Sun)

Tree Creepers: A guild of evil murderers hell bent on vengeance against the Holy City and its original allies.

Fire Creepers: A guild that once protected the Holy City, but now attacks out of desperation after their defeat from the Tree Creepers.

Allies:

The Order of the Sun: Victor's home kingdom that excepted him since his birth.

Newerth, The Holy City: The Capital town of the Order which Victor lives in.

Oasis: Military base owned by Victor.

Equipment/Clothing:

Abilities: (As Sidgil instructed me, this should be a brief reference and fleshed out to be more realistic from your actual class abilities)

I'll take a look at it. I think there is a character sheet template floating around the lore forum somewhere. I'll re-do everything tonight.

Speaking of Lore, if possible we should just talk a bunch tonight. I have a few ideas to make the Multiverse actually feel Multi.

With this kind of responce, I don't mind putting work into this now.

What I would love to see/ help create is a simple character sheet to help promote character building and adding a little Rp into the game. However, I think it would be best to speak with the lore team, and our local RPers to get an idea of what they want, and work around that.

I personally would love to promote more in-game RP, especially since the karma system is in testing, and from there go into forum RP.

Will do.
I've done forum RPs a longtime ago, love playing DnD and Pathfinder, and even have been learning to DM.

I'm not totally sure where I stand with this idea. I consider the whole in game experience to be Role-Playing, and I am in the Role Playing chat, but I feel what we do with our characters in game is the main foundation. Dialogue gameplay in a RP chat can be spun to easily, where as in game our players have already been worked into our hands. Look at my character, he stands against the strong nations of LO and KoS, and seeks to hunt down the last few remaining tree creepers, he is also the proud mayor of the current Willowdusk town. Am I going to role play this in RP chat? NOOOO! I already role play it whenever I log in! Don't get me wrong, for some people, the dialogue and text is the most important piece, but I love playing my character through playing my character, so to speak.

Working the Karma system into the RP would add a lot to the depth and appeal of it all!
Having a "real impact" on your character via RP in a way - really good for promoting suspension of disbelief!
