I've been grinding mobs straight for a few days now, and have gained only about 9k exp. I'm not complaining that the rate is slow. However compared to crafters who still get exp from mining (congrats Trizzie, btw!) combatants are left out of the game. My suggestion instead of lowering the curve or changing values or whatnot is to do the following.
Allow giants to spawn somehow, and only have them give exp to non-crafters.
The exp list says they are worth 300 exp a pop. Make them as rare but available; would help lessen the discrepancy between crafters and non-crafters. Also, I know Hell will have pigmen and ghasts, but crafters can kill them also, so it doesn't really even the playing field (and if necros are the only way in, Hell will probably be a limited place).
