hc.to/rules, you should read those... Everything you listed is against the rules the problem isn't that we have PvPers in the same channel, the problem is that the mods/proctors/admins aren't around 24/7 to enforce the rules. Making another channel won't changing anything or help anyone out.

PS: PvE players flame like every other player.

Again, I'm going to have to ask why you continue to troll this suggestion. You have attempted to change the subject three times now with ill intent. Your posts have been intended to degrade or derail the thread. I don't believe any of us want to make this into a mod shaming thread, add a channel for every possible activity, or debate what 'o' stands for.

I think it's great that you feel passionately about the suggestion, but I feel that trolling and baiting is never the right way to go about getting a discussion. If you were to reform your statements and accusations into neutral questions, I will gladly enter in conversation with you. I apologize for any inconvenience that this causes you. I believe that your repeated reply to the thread indicates that you are greatly attached to the idea of free reign in /o, however you are just having a hard time expressing yourself without the use of trolling, sarcasm, and extreme comparisons to make your points. (which, I feel it's fine to use those tactics to drive home a point, however the entirety of the body of your argument shouldn't solely be those things)

If I had to guess as to what you were actually trying to say, it'd be that you simply like things the way they are, don't want a new channel, and would not personally use it.

And that's a-okay! Thank you for your input.

"O chat" is actually "out of character"....

It's a multipurpose channel, while I dont have an issue with creating a PVP specific channel, we wont force users to use one or the other as they are both open to use.

Lets keep the posts on topic and dont divulge into flaming each other.

Everything's legal when there are no cops around. I guess we just need more Proctors/Mods, or else we'll end up with more broken windows.

Off-Topic:

Xelarator1 for president! ...I mean mod. *EDIT:* I mean Proctor.

On-Topic:

More mods is a great idea, but the thing to consider is that when you have more power thrown around, it becomes harder for senior staff to manage them. Which means more senior staff, and I don't think many are ready to move up to that point. That's just an assumption on my part, of course. As far as I've seen, Tim the Glorious takes on almost all /pe's that are more in-depth than mutes, and I think that perhaps, adding more mods to just be muters and link spammers isn't really a viable step in moving forward and handling the chat situations that arise.efficiently.

Which relates back to my OP (I feel like a politician...lol).

Proctors can mute also, but there still is the issue that nobody would use this new chat and there will always be flaming in public chats. Simple as that. Whether it is a 10yr old just hopping onto the server and raging about a zombie killing him, or someone that has been playing the server for a long time just flaming after they get killed. If you don't want to see them talk you can ignore them.

@Allofyoupeoplewhoarearguingaboutthechat Why don't we just have someone make a donor channel?! Simple solution, and any chat rules can be violated within. PROBLEM SOLVED

Er, I would appreciate it if you didn't belittle the discussion and people in the discussion with fake tags and things like that. It's unbecoming of a person of your title.

Thanks.

As for the donor channel, that's a great idea! Except participation would be next to nil, and it would probably sound pretty secluded. The only place it'd get advertised is /o, and when a person would advertise it. it would become a flamefest. And because, like you said, there's no rules in a donor chatroom, it would be a literal trolling ground to prove a point.

With the map going full PvP here soon, PvP will no longer be out of character. With conquest and war, there is PvP at almost all times on both sides of the continent. It is a large, and growing, part of the server.

I was not here during the old maps, so I don't know how the channels were set up. In my search of the forums, and every patch note thread I could force myself to read through, I never saw anything about the channels and can not refer back to those times. I would have assumed that a full PvP map would have had a channel for PvP separate from out of character. As out of character would be considered the global chat channel. It's where everyone goes to talk about things that don't fit neatly into a properly labeled and moderated channel, yes? Well, I feel PvP is big enough of a subject to get its own channel, and not something to be relegated to the obscure space where channels such as /salty and /sex reside.

There was no PvP channel on past maps, in Bastion there was Arena output but that just told you the results of arena matches. A PvP chat channel just won't be used, people will still use o chat.

If I were to humor you, then I would have to ask; why have any other public channels at all?

I mean, traders want the most people to see their goods, right? So let's have trade in the o chat. Cause that's where everyone is, right?
Or help...help is way easier to get when everyone sees your message, so let's remove /ch h and /ch tour. And if you don't want to help, just ignore the name that shows up with the blue text welcoming them to Herocraft, right?

The current points made against /ch pvp are, 'won't be used', trolling, and 'its the mods fault'.

Why wouldn't /ch pvp be used? For what reason would you personally not use that channel?

Laziness?
Desire to be viewed as publicly as possible?
Feel that /ch pvp is a punishment or jail to keep PvP chatter away?
Your keyboard's / button is broken and you're stuck in /o forever and you take me suggesting a new channel as a personal affront due to your current keyboard hardship?

I honestly would like to know.

"/ch list" is interesting....18 pages of 8 channels...there are over 100 channels....

Considering most of the towns listed there are more or less gone...trimming them might be a good idea...but off point...

Lets see...among other things there is Sex, salty, roleplay, Trivia, QQ, politics, religion, war, debate, lag, casino...lord knows how many towns...

I'm guessing most of these don't get used and a few could easily be trimmed as well.

It's surprising that a topic that actually does engage a good percentage of the server doesn't get it's own chat channel.

We as pvpers might as well back down from this conversation, the PVE population is too high and we'll be outvoted. No point in arguing with these people, they always get their way.

There is no need to become sarcastic, I'm stating my opinion. People don't always use help or tour anyways a lot of questions are answered in o chat. Trade chat is used because all offers said in there are binding, and you cannot scam someone if it is confirmed in Trade.

You said in your first post that the people causing these problems have disregarded the rules, so why would they use this new chat?
I personally wouldn't use the channel because i would not want to be in a channel with no rules. I know some people may like it, but those who abuse o chat will just see this new channel as a place to troll.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic to cause offence, I was just making a point. I was throwing a little humor in there with the keyboard question. I apologize if you were offended.

I never once stated that the channel would have no rules. I stated that the rules would be lightened. Others have suggested no rules, or a donor channel for no rules. I, however, have not.

Currently, caps and spam in /o during PvP can easily be 'forgiven' with a simple 'wc'. Even without it, they are not ....addressed. There are no rules for PvP chat right now in /o. For some people.

I say again, it is unreasonable to mute PvPers because they are doing what people who PvP and have access to a keyboard just tend to do.

It is unrealistic to expect them not to do it, or to use the enforcement ladder on them, in their large quantities.

I repeat, /ch PvP would have lightened rules in that PvP-releated spam and caps that typically happens in /o would be allowed to a point to coincide with lightened rules, not no rules.

Again, the purpose of such a channel would be to allow PvPers to enjoy their poop, spam, and flame in a sanctioned, public channel that could be lightly moderated in order to, as JohnSmith cried out, stop it from happening, virtually unrestricted in its current form, in /o.

Because it is also unreasonable and unrealistic to expect the people not engaging in such activities to /ignore half of the server, when those people are actually quite fun and interesting to talk to when they aren't PvPing.

As Kainzo stated, no one can 'force' you to join a channel. All the rules in the world aren't going to stop any one behaviour from happening. I just hope for a more enjoyable /o experience.

This is why I asked you why you wouldn't use the channel. Does this repeated information clarifying the suggestion in any way change that opinion? If you feel so inclined, I'd enjoy reading why it did or did not.

Hey, /ignore is in the game for a reason. Why don' t you use it instead of looking silly on the forums. Pvpers have nothing useful to say to you anyways. So do /ignore on all the flamers, spammers, crier, etc. Easy as that. (Down vote inc cause people have no common sense.)

Edit : Knirps doesn't have a counter argument cause he/she knows i'm right so instead wrongfully disagrees with the reply </3 Must be a personal vendetta.

The reason I added that tag, is because this is all silly, you could simply just /ignore them or /ch leave o. O chat is for all general shit picking with others, it's a place to talk about anything, please don't take offense to something made as a joke like my "tag". That's all I am gonna say about this since I hate controversy in general.

I feel it is unnecessary to find new ways to type the same thing over and over again. I understand that the forums aren't the one liners and snippets of the in-game world, but I feel that if you are going to go so far as to quote someone you should read at least that much.

I appreciate all legitimate feedback, for or against the suggestion, and would like to ask that we remember what Kainzo has said.
