I also think that in my opinion the mayor system would only cause more confusion and chaos because then theoretically, you could have a new mayor every week and also the towns people will still have to vote every week for a mayor. Also this system does not solve the problem in this thread. The problem is that if mayors in kingdoms control their own towns or does the king have all the power.

I think at one point Kain wanted to put in a township voting system where citizens could elect a mayor once a week. Idk what ever happened to that.
It was monthly, but yes, he did have these plans. What Angy said is, imo, the big thing holding this back.

While this exact situation has never come up in the past 4 maps I've played and there are no official Kingdom rules written anywhere... I do remember the loose rule back on Sanctum when we had many Kingdom's on a single map. That rule was exactly what's been discussed here. King has control over his/her towns. They can choose to kick a town out of the Kingdom or they can choose to pick a new Mayor if the current one isn't up to snuff.

Think of a Kingdom as one giant Town. The King is the Mayor, the other town Mayors are his/her SiC's. As a Mayor of a town can you demote your SiC and replace him/her? Yes. The same (in theory) should apply for a Kingdom.

Don't ask me to find this rule written somewhere on some 2 year old post because I would never find it, but I do remember this rule, so it must have been written somewhere at some point or otherwise I wouldn't recall it so vividly.

Also, just because this is what I remember doesn't make it morally right to strip mayorship away from jonsoon. being a town mayor myself for the last 4 maps I can't even begin to think how I'd react to a king forcing me out of my own town! my creation, my baby! lol
But see, this is more of if the mayor and potentially other leadership of the town goes inactive, the King may appoint a leader of the town. The town is the responsibility of the Mayor, and, if he/she so chooses, the Council. In the case of a Kingdom being separated, I think it's sad and a compromise should be reached rather than tear it apart, but it is the Mayor's decision what to do with a town.

Do I want Braavos to leave LO? No, I think that would be sad. Is it my decision? No. Would it be Jonsoon's decision as Mayor? Yes, I believe it ultimately should be. But I still want compromise.
leftovers5 - Is this the reason of having those Guidelines more advocated and laid out now? Curious.

No matter how Jonsoon did it (poorly in my mind - he did it rashly, without telling anyone, and lacked majority support in his own town) it sure as heck was a wake up call for many of us.

Yeah - Counseling this with Town and Kingdom Council would be wisest, in my opinion. In fact, I thought this had been done based on a comment I saw from you, mentioning this post, the one in LO Thread, and a convo. But, it is good that something like this happened, with more level headed people than some others - We can get this situation ironed out for future generations of Kingdoms.

For posterity, indeed.

Actually I started discussing getting some guidelines together with Eldrylars a week before Jonsoon made his move. And the impetus for that was indeed some comments Jonsoon had made in LO Council - and also that I'd been hearing some LO players saying the play-style of some other players was degrading their personal game experience. In the end, Jonsoon was a significant contributor to the guidelines... ;).

The admins have never given an answer. Seemingly ignoring the situation or forgot. Some citizens still interact with LO, but I no longer require citizens who do not wish to be connected to do so.

I myself feel 10x better about LO since I am now able to ignore the trolling and immaturity.
