Okay, I'm almost done with the spawn/return portal. We need to make a city team while I finish this.

Here's the plan to have it all make sense: The spawn area is a ruins. There is a archeological dig site nearby. Explorers in Zeal discovered a portal to this unknown world and sent an expedition through to examine what it could be. Most of the world is still unexplored and unknown. Who knows what wonders and dangers they may find...

So yes, If everything goes as planned, there will be a storyline behind the whole thing, hopefully spanning the entire map. But first it needs to be built!

A city underground or a city covered in sand (showing only half of the buildings) would need a nice idea near spawn! A few city tops sticking out would be good!

The spawn buildings are mostly done, but there is going to be an underground explorable area/dungeon next to it. Could definitely have underground buildings and stuff!
