Welcome Traveler, to the World of Herocraft. A vast, untamed wilderness, Herocraft was created long ago by the Disposable Heroes. Before you embark from the confines of Sanctum City, equip yourself with the inside knowledge of towns that you'll need to survive.
Most Recent Updates
-Added Ultima as a "Most Amazing Structure" because it isn't a town anymore
-Starting on "most amazing structures" section
-Replacing Silverwyn with Tarantia. The recent renovations that have gone on in Silverwyn have been, in my opinion, for the worse--at least for the time being. I feel Tarantia deserves the spot more.
-Updated "Most Powerful" lists.
-Removed Ultima from any list for the time being
-Removed All traces of MoB. Updated several lists.
What is this?
The first daunting task that new players face is choosing a town to be a part of (if part of one at all). The Traveler's Guide is essentially a rankings list of all of the official towns in various categories. It's goal is to provide new players with insight so that they can find the town that suits them the best.
Who am I? Am I qualified to make this?
I am anonymous, and I will remain anonymous. I try my hardest to be completely unbiased when making these lists, and I don't want people to think otherwise. I am not a citizen of any city, and I have been playing for a long enough time to know the grand scheme of things. I spend most of my time in Herocraft mining and making secret structures or playing with mechanisms in the wilderness.
Am i qualified to make this? Anyone is qualified to have an opinion. And yes, that's all this is. An opinion. MY opinion. But hopefully an opinion that people will agree with.
Disagree with me?
I'm human just like everybody else. I can make mistakes, I can overlook things. If you feel like your town or city truly deserves a certain spot on one of the rankings list, send me a PM on the forums. I'll come check it out in game to reconsider. But PLEASE, don't be an asshole. It's only making you and your town look worse.
When is this "rankings list" updated?
I'll try to update it as frequently as possible. Researching every city and traveling to each ingame is time-consuming, so don't expect daily or even weekly updates. Usually, I will try to update this every weekend when I have the time.
Disclaimer
I have NOT bothered visiting any of the newly made and smaller towns/cities. This is because I know that they still have lots of work to do, so they most likely won't make a spot on any of the lists. That does not mean, however, that I will overlook them in the future.
ALSO, the sources of my information that I use to create these rankings MIGHT BE highly unreliable. I do have several well-known and reputable friends on this server who give me information, but I do not trust that its entirely accurate. Since I do not want to risk my anonymity, I do not want to ask actual citizens of every town for information. Much of my information comes from the Township threads. If those threads are out-of-date or inaccurate, so is my information.

The Most Powerful Cities
This is essentially a runoff of Trinity's old "The Herocraft Powers" thread. I am choosing not to add insight or details below each city because those details will end up changing sporadically, and keeping the updated will be a pain in the ass. Factors include funding, number of citizens, reputation of citizens, and alliances.

The Most Aesthetically Pleasing Cities
This is pretty self-explanatory. I have gone around the map looking at many of the cities in detail. I have not, because of constraints, been able to visit all of the cities.
5. Tarantia
I've been hearing a lot of talk lately about how good Tarantia looks, so I looked at some screenshots and decided to check it out myself. Although, as even Kainzo said, the lion gate entrance looks f*cking amazing, the city itself fell rather short of my expectations. There are very few structures in Tarantia that actually stand out. Most of the things that have been built there are nice, but aren't noteworthy. Tarantia is filled with lots of vacant space and ugly terrain.
Sights to see: Lion's Head Entrance, Central Spire tower, BlacklabelBobbie's House, Train Station
4. SkyForge
When I first saw SkyForge from afar, it was stunningly beautiful, and I had much the same reaction I had of Ultima. Skyforge has incredible structure layout, organization, and scenery. However, the actual buildings in the city were somewhat disappointing. In fact, the first two houses I saw were two ugly, wooden boxes. Also, there were many random/floating trees around the city that made it look messy. There were some very nice designs in the city, however, which are listed below.
Sights to see: First Bank of Skyforge, Quadzpha's House, Steamed's House, Fuckingsoup's Hospital, Dagothagahnim's Shrine, SS Vertigo
3. Artemis
Artemis is a mix of delights and disappointments. Generally, I was extremely impressed when I saw the city from the exterior, but was disappointed by the unappealing interiors of many of the structures. Many of its buildings were downright amazing, while other were ugly. All in all, Artemis has fit its theme well and achieved its goal of being aesthetically pleasing. It is clear from a lot of the empty land that its citizens still have a lot of work to do. The city has a lot of potential, and hopefully its citizens capitalize on it.
Sights to see: Library of Artemis, Sheddi's House, The house next to Sheddi's House, Artemis Bank, Dago's Greek Fountain, Artemis Town Hall, JWP's Plot
2. Fiore
What first struck me about Fiore is their amazing city hall. It is by far the most beautiful single structure that I have seen on the server. All of the houses in Fiore look really nice as well, but there were only a few that were amazing or incredible. What annoyed me about this city was that there was so much empty unused space, and this alone took away from the splendor (Yes I do realize that lots of said "unused space" are simply empty plots)
Sights to see: City Gates, City Hall, Hawianguy's House, Alator's House, The Shopping Center, Raetac's House, Raolan's Home, Divine's Cliffside Plot
1. Newerth
Newerth doesn't have as amazing houses as does Silverwyn or standout structures as does Fiore. What stood out about Newerth was the fact that it, unlike every other city, barely had any unused space. The citizens have made the most out of every single block of their city. I'm not implying that cities need to be filled with structures and be "urban-like" in order to look good, because some towns have themes that require less crowded scenery. However, blocks shouldn't simply be empty. Unused land can be used for small, beautiful, fountains or gardens or signposts or trees or small eyecandy decorations like that, and that's what Newerth has accomplished. Furthermore, Newerth is filled with amazing structures and innovative designs. Not every city is perfect, however. Quite a few of the houses in Newerth are unfinished or extremely ugly.
Sights to see: City Hall, Xanipher's House/Tower, Imperialbob's House, s3nse's Manor, Newerth Royale, Black Label Tower, IKaosI's Manor, Subway Station, Newerth Arena, Nater_Tater's Casino
The Most Newb-Friendly Cities
Factors for this list include: overall helpfulness of citizens, kits/items given to new citizens, distance from spawn, alliances, bank rate, overall power of the city, plot prices, activity of citizens, and farms.
