One of the major draws of towns is to be able to sell your gold for a good price since the banker can then sell for 10c each.     How about investment which gives the player a % chance of multiplying the money invested by a fixed amount? IE I invest 50c and have a 25% chance of getting 200c from it. The cool down would be long (10 minutes?)and the money would be awarded or lost at the end of the cooldown.
