It says the server is up but I can't join because it's outdated?
DO NOT UPDATE TO 1.8
The server has to wait till all plugins have been updated, then it can update.

How do you NOT update? Its auto? And if I play offline u can't connect to any multiplayer server? Wanna help please? Lol

Just push the "Don't update" button when it asks if you want to update or not.
If you got the old launcher scrap it and re-download the launcher from mc.net
