wizards needs love <3

As of now wizards are kinda under powered..
Geos gets wizard skills and after the bolt nerf and port diamond cost they are pretty much dissapointing..

Lets start with the Geamancer, the masters of fire and ice.
These guys seems to get most of the new stuff just pushed into their ability list, while wizards just stands to rot, they even have a skill that makes them invinsible over the other casters.
right now I'm wondering, yeah wizards lost pulse, that's ok. But, geomancers got the new skill called chain lightning, which is a lightning element. Wizards are the masters of lightning, geos are the masters of ice and water, makes sense dosn't it?

Wizards got two damaging skills, geos has 7.
Wizards ulti does 30 dmg, geos ulti is an aura with a 8 block r which deals a total of 110 dmg over 60 second, now the problem is that if you get inside the 8 block radius you can't get out of range, you can move how far away from the caster you want and still it wont go away(it killed me inside no-pvp too).
Most, if not all PvP classes would be able to beat a wizard in PvP, this, makes me really sad.

But what really bangs me is that all the other caster classes seems to get new stuff all the time, while wizards dosn't get anything new.
Better now lord @Kainzo ?

I don't pay much attention to posts unless you;
1) Use Objective terms not "this sux0r caues we dont get X skill and Y class does!"
2) Support argument with facts
3) Have data/graphs/comparisons between 'like' things

Bolt does 30 damage (Tested with Wizard friend) and if you read the new patch notes, the diamond cost is being removed.

Well now that you edited it I will... I can't see into the future however.

So again.

Bolt-30 damage 15 sec CD vs Blaze - 110 60 sec time

Doing some math here 60/15=4

So 30x4=120 damage.

You have the more powerful ult in the same amount of time there.

As for killing you inside NoPvP its the same as a BM wolf, their gonna follow you and wreck you where ever you go. However in the case of blaze, find 1x1 water hole and sit inside it.

Edit - Figured I should clear this up, this thread is about Wizards getting some buffs, but you have only mentioned how your under powered and your skills don't match up. Suggest some changes to current skills or suggest some new ones, but only saying that Wizards are weak and Geos are OP will get nothing done for you.

Wow, way to open a can of worms Haha. Well! As an M.Wizard I'll throw my 2 coins down~

For the tl;dr version. Wizards have changed in perspective from Glass Cannon into a Utilitarian class I believe.

Pros
  • Blink gives us the power to get nearly everywhere
  • Gteleport allows us to inject large groups into any town to DO the damage we may lack
  • Port allows us to get nearly anywhere on the map quickly
  • Telekinesis lets us flip switches and buttons from a distance(Which I have used a couple times for infiltration)
  • Bolt is one of the "shock" skills as it does for the most part has the shock and awe of the sounds and animation
  • If you can aim, Fireball can be deadly
  • If you use a Ho they CAN do good damage if you can Melee.
Cons

  • 1v1 we can get our ass handed on a silver platter if we don't burst damage quick enough to counteract health regen
  • Our skills cost quite a bit of mana and we run out VERY fast, even with replenish.
  • If you can't aim, Fireball is a spray and pray
  • Blink sometimes sends us into a wall and suffocates us
  • We don't have a wizard robe and hat
Possible solutions

  • Have our skills do Fatigue damage as well, draining some of the opponents food bar so they can't regen
  • Lower the cooldown on Replenish so we can access more mana in the long fights.
  • Lower mana cost on our skills(especially blink) so we have more mobility in a fight
  • This may be a broken record, but a small damage boost to Bolt would help. Something like 35-40 would be better suited for our damage output
  • Wizards can easily sacrifice 10-15 HP from their health if we can push out more damage. As far as wizards go we are surprising resilient with our 81 health.
  • If port gets added to other classes maybe some of their skills could also be swapped into Wizard?
I do feel sometimes that we may not be able to push out nearly as much damage as we used to, but looking back it was really just Root giving us the time to push out fireballs on our targets. As far as burst damage goes for wizards it is quite hard to get a kill now without it. On the flip coin of the damage side though I've been noticing us Wizards are shifting away from the "Glass Cannon" perspective and more into the "Recon and infiltration". With our blink we can get nearly anywhere also over any wall and with Gteleport we can inject a group of the dps classes to do tons of damage. The long duration of Root gives us more time as we can hold someone chasing us down so we can accomplish our task. One of the things I feel holds us back is our mana. I'm not comparing class to class but rather hero's to other games right now. Most classes fit their description from other games but the wizard feels lacking when we are using the same mana bar as everyone else. Wizards(and other casters) don't rely on armor and melee but on the size of our mana pool to rail out our spells. This is why wizards were designed to be squishy to counteract this.

Very well broken down Dom!!!

1. I agree with your concerns to our mana pool. It just runs out too fast in combat unless we go in "cookie monster" mode. I suggest returning our replenish cool down back to 60 seconds instead of 120 seconds.

2. Bolt seems slightly lacking in damage when considering our wiki description of glass cannons, we are supposed to be all DPS no DEF. Not sure how much of a buff would be acceptable though.

3. With port supposedly going to other classes, i'd like for us to have more more damaging skills. Perhaps explosive fireball that way we have some AoE potential now that pulse is gone from our skillset.

4. Blink is a wonderful skill to use, I love it. However in combat I am always torn between using blink for mobility and fireball for DPS, our mana pool can't handle them both in the same encounter.

5. As for Kevin, I think Geomancers are coming along quite nicely. :) The only thing I would change is their flameshield, as it renders me and most other casters useless against them.
