I do believe alchemist's cauldrons need a touch of updating to the times. let me go through a list
grass: ok
leaves: meh, time saver somehow?
mossy cobble: 4 for 1 diamond? mossy cobble is now common in mega tiaga biomes.
ice: good
snow: completely and utterly useless. you can take 3 of those snow blocks and make 6 of the snow without the dirt. replace please
sugar cane: no, just no. you almost have to pay people to take your sugarcane now. replace
cocoa beans: the mats needed to make this are more rare than farmable cocoa beans. rework or replace
smoothstone: time saver
brick: time saver, increase product or reduce input though
glass: time saver
cactus: ok for its cheap cost
clay block: clay is MUCH more common than the diamond you need to make it. replace diamond with water bucket
chain armors: ok, alchemists are not supposed to be primary chain providers. maybe go back to old system with mob drops
lapis block: ok, i suggest increasing product to 2 to compensate for costs
slimeball: no, just no... replace
lily pad: good
mycelium: good
blaze powder: good
chiseled stone: ok
glowstone: no, glowstone is too common currently to be of use, remove diamond from cost and maybe acceptable.
nether wart: nether wart is quite easy to get currently, nether wart is farmable! change: brown+red shrooms, slimeball
nether brick: nether brick can be made from the most abundant material in the nether now. useless. replace
nether fence: craftable from the common nether brick. replace
soul sand: ok if you cant find some somehow in the nether, or running low.
end stone: it needs more uses, it has no marketability as of right now.
green=good, keep it
yellow=meh, acceptable, but needs a touch up
red: useless, never, and if used, rarely used by alchemists I'm sure.
Some things need a change. I question as to how long these recipes have been untouched... I have suggested a few things for change, but some things (such as slimeball, nether brick, etc) I just don't understand why they're there anymore. they need to be replaced with something else, anything really. would be cool to have a wood transmutation.
2 oak--> 1 birch
2 birch--> 1 jungle
2 jungle--> 1 spruce
2 spruce--> 1 dark oak
2 dark oak--> 1 acacia
