Your story: The last thing I remember talking about was trying to clarify a rule in help chat with a moderator. Jonsoon was the mod answering at the time and it was about someone in my town asking if you can use summon squid to open pressure plates in towns. We had found a spot to use this specific trick and wanted to be completely sure it was allowed before getting banned for attempting it. I typed two messages total in help basically rewording the question so that the mod was aware of everything taking place, that way if one specific part was breaking a rule we wouldn't do it. All attempts to type a message this morning resulted in a Cannot send chat message error, which feels like a ban to me.
