I've noticed that some people-most notably iarbobray are really fed up with getting raided 24-7. Even if people do not stay for a long time, a place like LightForge (for instance) is raided constantly, and because of that, our progress has benn greatly impeded, and people are starting to leave town. I would like to propose a rule that would limit the number of times a town can raid another town in one day, so places can get up on their feet, and actually be able to level/mine. I know that this may go against the 'hardcore' aspect, but just think of it.

people have been sitting in lightforge for... two hours now breaking walls looking for chests because we arent paying them a "generous offer of 300c a week"

It's a hardcore server - abandon the plot and go somewhere else - or join up with a more active town.

We, as staff, feel it unnecessary to step into the player politics on an open-creative-hardcore server. It goes against the hands-off policy unless;
  1. Rules are being broken
  2. Exploits in game mechanics to have an advantage
  3. Gross misconduct
It is completely within the rules to prevent an up and coming town from starting successfully.

Do I personally like seeing this? No. Do I think people should band together against assholes who camp/stop builders? Yes.

Then you have the issue of what constitutes a raid in specific terms and then you have to keep a rein on it.
I'm with you in Lightforge, but I don't think I can advocate a limit on raiding. Keep on trucking, we have allies.

they HAVE broke the rules. we build our town underground and the ladder is in the center of a tower with four gates. they:

broke the gate, opened it and fireballed us (yesterday)
broke the block next to the gate and came in
broke the neds of the underwater tunnels to get in

i have screenshots, its against the rules

If it's to the point where you consider it harassment, have an admin/mod watch or fraps it, this will get the people in trouble.

Donny, stop. This thread is not about us, it's about suggestion a new rule.

We have a problem but this is not the place to discuss it.

this is, Kainzo's reply to people on iarbobray's thread when they suggested it's harassment. You won't be able to get them banned for harassment in this situation.

It HAS been said before at times, that if you EXCESSIVELY camp a town, to the point the other players have the game ruined for them (sounds like bob is having this problem) action will be taken against them.

While it sounds like a good idea on paper. I doubt the nocamping more than X amount of times would be functional. Everyone is on different time zones and towns can't control each individual member. What if only one of their townmembers is camping your town without telling his own. Other members from that same town could raid you many more than 3 times, not knowing the others had already done so. There's also no way to keep track of everyone and their positions each day. No admin would want to search through pages and pages of logs to try and determine of they've raided you more than X times that day.

Perhaps this wasnt a very good idea... Id have to agree with Zihara, while I hate people being so rude and harrasing me, it would be hard to create/enforce this rule. Also, we've caught them for griefing so many times, they'll likely get banned anyways
@Brutalacerate could you lock/delete this thread?

Wish I could code. The Dynamic Map already shows player position, what if it recorded it as well? It would at least let a person see how long a player occupied a certain area.
