To the victor goes the spoils -

The tip of the blade hovered inches over the ground.
Blood still dripped from its sparkling diamond tip,
forming into a small pool in the sand below.
She felt her body screaming for air as the strain
from combat settled in, causing her to realize
that she had been holding her breadth since the
last moments of the fight. She took in several large
breadths sending her chest heaving while still staring
at the ground where her last opponent fell. Her body
trembled slightly, both from exertion as well as excitement.
Her silver hair soaked with sweat and her brow covered
in mud from the dirt and sand throw up by the fight.

She let her muscles loosen seeing that there were no
more opponents making an attempt on her life,
finally able to close off her tunnel vision and take in the scene.
Moments passed that seemed like an eternity as
she glanced back and forth across the field without
daring to move her body. The arena’s floor was a mess,
with the fallen spread across its sandy ground from side to side.

No movement other than particles of sand whipped
up by a strong breeze that ran through the arena could
be seen. The hundreds of spectators standing stunned
by the surprising turn of events, not even daring to breathe
as they stared on in amazement.

Continuing to hold her body still, she slowly lifted her blade
into the air above her head. As its tip reached towards the
clear blue sky, the stunned crowds regained their wits
and burst into cheer. The sound became a so loud that the
ground itself shook from its rumble.

As the crowd screamed on, the blood that had been dripping
into the sand had reversed direction and had made its way
down onto her hand. It’s now cool temperature breaking her
completely from the spell of combat and back into reality.

Finally realizing the consequences of the battle,
she fell to her knees; removing the blood stained
heraldry bearing her alliances crest and colors and
dropped it to the ground.

Saying a silent prayer while the crowd’s cheers started to
die out in confusion, she sat there once again not moving.

Speaking quietly an incantation she disappeared from
the battlefield leaving only the purple and blue tunic with
a silver image of a floating city emblazoned upon it where she once was.
