I should just switch to something like Smith or Enchanter, and buy all my leather from JoshForReal or Trazil. Oh, wait...
Like I said, Farmer is annoying as hell to level. Also, I don't play as much as I need to. I have 15k. And if I am on I plan to PvP. My armor breaks and weapon breaks. I'm going to be a smith lol. Plus the fact I have like 5-10 stacks of leather if I need any.

Yes, right-clicking wheat on one cow and then right-clicking wheat on another cow and watching them literally bump uglies (hate that cow skin) is quite simple.

I don't think that's what Epic was saying.
Thank you Knirps, you are exactly correct. your fish & tree metaphor displayed what I meant. It isn't hard to spawn cows and kill them, but the amount of times you have to do it (even with a looting sword) is slightly daunting. At the same time, sticking to my original argument, is that while leather is hard/impossible to get without farmer, it IS a farm-able item. Things like diamonds and emeralds are not farm-able, and yet they average at the same price. Think about this for a second, why are emeralds at 2.5$ where leather is also 2.5? I know diamonds can be made out of lapis if an alchemist makes it work, but still where does all that cmoe from? You go hunting through the earth looking for precious minerals that are irritably hard to find, and at the same time, there is a farmer sitting in a field spawning and breeding cows, and getting as much money as you. This seems odd to me.

Although, in past maps, leather used to be dirt cheap. Ask anyone who has been on before Valorium, it used to be way easier to get and way less to sell (even though farmers could still turn a profit.)

Turn a profit? Eh? Farmer turning soil? Eh? Anyone? Wow, tough crowd.

Well Sir, Leather was dirt cheap. Why was leather so cheap you ask? Well I have an answer that makes sense (holy shit me being helpful for once) See in Bastion Trazil built a town off of leather and sold leather for 32s per stack. Me and Trazil built a whole town off of Trazil basically just spawning mobs and killing them with looting items.
Then Haven and Aegis happened and leather prices dropped hugely. Why did this prices drop? Well sir lets think about this. What do people use leather for? Armor, Great! What classes buy leather? Classes that wear it! In Haven and Aegis people had attributes so they did not require leather and most people just wore iron/chain in place of leather. Now back this map classes have armor set so they need leather, and that is why leather prices are higher.

For the record, I played in haven and aegis, so I know that from experience, and your absolutely right about the dirt-cheap prices. Also, I think the reason leather is so much is that almost all the classes use it. The list of classes that use other armor is short, consisting of mainly pally, DK, Dragoon, Ranger, and a few other classes. They should have more classes use varying armor.

Also ive noticed that what is happening on herocraft is contradictory to the polls. Leather prices have drasticaly dropped. Even peewee is selling them at F*king 60-90$. And that's a record for peewee. most people are lowering the prices from the old 120-100$ to 70, 60, 80, even 50$

Yeah, turns out chunk limits got funky and he was able to spawn hundreds into what was barely a 30x20 pen in the pasture he wrecked.

I don't see prices bouncing back up with that having happened, assuming there were other known leather farmers who noticed and profited from that, too.

There have been some that have been selling leather for like 80 for at least the past two weeks, naturally they were getting far more business then anyone else. And it seems like there are more people trying to supply leather compared to a few weeks ago. Once I saw leather for those prices I bought six stacks in a short period of time and won't be needing anymore for quite some time.

It's supply and demand, the supply has gone up while the demand has not increased. And yeah the chunk limits are off whack right now as Knirps has said.

I have placeholder leather on the market for while I'm out of town, and I don't know if it has sold or not. However, I do know that people have questioned my price several times.

It is sitting at 200 souls for a stack of 64 leather.

I think that the price is justified, personally. As Xelerator1 and Witch have said, breeding cows is an intense, tedious process. The amount of thought alone that goes into attempting to breed sustainably and with a high return is probably more than the average non-farmer Herocrafter ever has to go through.

As a farmer, you can farm cows for four hours and have exactly four stacks of leather (lucky night I'm referencing) and know that you will have barely met the needs of a quarter of the town members. At this point, you can undercut for a loss (What feels like a loss, based on time spent compared to if I had just punched wheat.), or you can hand them off to be enchanted to an enchanter. At that point, you can then spend 45 minutes per set trying to get enchants worth a profit, however in minecraft survival servers, considering you've just revealed you have four stacks of leather and must donate at least half to the town, you're now in the hole on time spent vs. profit. Unless you're also an enchanter, at which point you can then invest 400 souls or 200 souls (codexes/relics) ONE WAY to switch to the enchanter...again, which puts you not only 4 hours deep into the leather, but also 200-800 souls deep into profession switching, not including enchanting time.

THEN you can put your product on the market and have it bashed for being overpriced.

I personally thought I'd make ends meet by selling off the cooked beef on the side, until I saw a stack of 64 for like 2 souls on the market. Which is now more time and effort on my side as I need to find a hungry town willing to buy in bulk just to effectively unload it.

I get several messages daily asking if I have any leather for sale, and as Witch said I usually just produce to order for my town, so I don't normally have any on hand...Which, why would I? I've gotten offers of 30 souls a stack, wanting 3-6 stacks right NOW expecting me to hop my happy arse down to TD and roll around in my 180 souls for 6 hours of work like I just hit the lotto.

I have yet to sell a single stack of leather. (Sans marketplace sales I'm unaware of) It goes right to my town, because at least there I know I'm getting some of my effort back in compensation gear.

Long story short, I think the price of many goods is UNDER market value considering time spent and invested. 25 souls for, presumably an unenchanted leather chestplate, seems perfectly within reason, to me.

(Caps for emphasis cause being on mobile sucks.)
I agree!
