[Spell] Blink

Blink should not be allowed to be used to port through any kind of block, transparent or not. If a building on a region is sealed so that no other class in the game can get into it, why should wizards have the ability bypass that just because the building has glass?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not crapping on the skill. I think the skill is wonderful. I can see numerous uses in PvP, such as getting away from an opponent or chasing an opponent. I just think that it shouldn't let one class have an advantage to bypassing the security of having a region. Also, if wizards can blink through glass, can they blink into DHX?

By design - this wasnt what we wanted, we've put in the basic spell "blink" for now.

I'd think it would take designed compatibility between Heroes and the Regions plugin to fix this sort of issue. Something that disables or nerfs a skill when protected zones are involved. It would be nice, but it would definitely be a long-term project right now. But it's something that would be good to see, huh?

i guess the patch isn't working then, i was killed several times in my house that was blocked in and the guy would blink through the smooth stone walls,or the glass walls, even throught 2 thick dirt blocks and kill me,
crafters cant even defend themselves in thier own houses,much let having someone able to go through the walls, so why not just throw the freaking regions out to and scrape this shit. BTW freaking is not the words i wanted to use!!

I said long ago lets all turn pvper's and kill everyone and then no one will be there to create shit.
if a fighter can fight let um fight, a crafter builds let us build, craft create, that means no one thats not a crafter cant build a sword, or a pick or a freaking stick, let them come to the crafters for their supplies, and see if they survive with their the abliity to fight, without weapons, tools, armor, etc.

i really believed in this server, i donated, to help in causes, because the benifits dont help cause they dont work half the time, so its for the love, but when people abuse this and those of us that try to trust that the system will work to help, but are contantly let down then i dont see the purpose,

yeh its hardcore, i think hard to the core is dead to the core if this keeps up, just like dead crafters,
yes you did get rid of the x-rayers, the hackers, and still are, but dont you think maybe this should have been done during trest and not in live, i guess we are all the guinea pigs here, the minecrafters lifers find all the ends and outs whats best how to get around the corners easily, foind the loop holes, the rest of us jsut get shit on, nuthing works, ahhh

Please understand that I am away from my computer and in another state taking care of Apherdite and her family. This wasnt planned and is not my desired option. I will begin work on the patch and cleaning up things that didnt go well as soon as I can, family comes first though.

I just think if it was meant to be used in a certain way and someone abuses it then thats an exploit, thats just like using any other exploit, they need to be banned, , guess that doen't happen anymore!

Would it be to much to ask that someone post that it is an exploit and if caught they will be punished, might slow the use of the exploit down!!

Haha, poor diplomacy Moe But you're not alone in the idea that PvP'ers seem to have it all right now, while the people who would rather create are sort of hung out to dry, simultaneously trying to make useful of impressive structures while being harassed or attacked by raiders who use blink/charge to exploit bugs and get into otherwise secure areas.

Hardcore is great, but it needs to be balanced, already lost a few players because they felt this way, I'd rather buffs to combat were held back until things were more even.

That said personal issues come first, MC is just a game afterall. Perhaps you could cook up some suggestions to benefit or balance the issues that crafters face. Most of the killing is just to grief, rather than to steal things anyway.

Moe, I'm not able to blink through ANYTHING - including glass or the 2 dirt you were talking about, not even 1 block wide gaps where I can see the other side. Maybe that wizard found another way in, or maybe he broke a couple blocks to get in, but I don't see how he could have blinked through...

the spell itself doesnt allow for blinking through holds, the COMPASS can but only admins+ get that.

As said above, Blink OR charge arent meant to go through walls - it is a design oversight, nothing more and will be fixed when time is permitted
what seems "even" to you might be super offputting to others. saying "things are unbalanced!!!!" is meaningless. Any player that wants to leave because of 'balance' yet not post a supporting argument as to why, does not support your argument at all.
By design - Crafters are not-combat classes, they are crafting/social/building classes. We have no intent to give them offensive capabilities and very little defensive ones.

Please use objectivity when determining balance rather than subjectivity

Well, the fact that blink isn't bindable makes it so much worse.
Its not usefull in combat if you have to type /c blink everytime there's a dragoon using his jump to get ya..
(I'm not installng a mod just to use blink in combat )

I think you misunderstood (as well as misquoted) me Kainzo. When I mentioned balance, I meant having ways of genuinely making safe areas in which to work/craft. That should be regioned walled towns, but exploits are allowing people to get in and kill where they shouldn't be able to. Not that Crafters should be good PvP'ers.

Obviously not all code can be flawless on the first test (I know first hand) and that the people to blame here are those that are fine exploiting things to cause others grief, not the coding team/designers, who I'm sure didn't expect their additions to be used to tip the balance this way.

Balance to me would be for both combat orientated players; who are keen to hunt and kill, and for non-combat orientated players; who want to experiment and create things on the server - To have equally effective ways of gaining exp, making money and defending themselves.

thats all this dude keeps coming in my house and killing me the only opening is my door, and its blocked off, but he comes through the glass walls behind me, so what else to do but break my bed and respawn in zeal, i lost to muck xp trying to get to master engineer to deal with this shit. no life no game so what the freak!!

I see someone has updated the wiki stating "Will not teleport through non-transparent blocks." so i guess they can go through glass, fences, ice blocks, etc.
