soccermiles' application

  • Minecraft In-game name: soccermiles
  • Location: Boulder, CO; Age: 19
  • Previous Bans from other Servers (If yes, explain where/when): May have some bans from the old "Minecraft Classic" game that was available on minecraft.net. Back when I lived at my mom's house, it was too easy for my brother to use the remembered username/password to log into my account. He was a total troll. I was not aware of this until now, but it appears he continued to use my account after I bought Minecraft Beta, and proceeded to get my account banned from at least one Beta server. He may have been using my account as recently as one month ago, when I migrated my account to mojang.com (and changed the password). I don't know the extent of the damage.
  • Referral(s): time_warp1
  • How did you hear about Herocraft?: I heard about it from my friend here in the dorms, time_warp1. We were hoping to build some crazy redstone contraptions, either as a service to a township or in a team, somewhere in the wilderness. (I am aware of good practice for minimizing redstone's impact on the server, and we will keep our overhead to a minimum).
  • Have you voted for Herocraft (No? Click here)?: Yes...NOTE: Vote#7 suggests that I may be "attempting to vote through proxy". I believe this is caused by the local network here at CU Boulder Campus.
  • Do you agree to the Herocraft EULA & ToS?: Yes
  • Reason you should be accepted:
I'm interested in building useful and practical vanilla-style redstone systems for use in towns, and I'm excited to find out how wireless redstone affects redstone systems design.
My communications will be appropriate and efficient, and I will respect other players.
I'm also interested in building castles with utilitarian and modular design (I haven't tried combining redstone and castles yet, but I will).
I'm aware that initially, playing on this server can be extremely difficult, and I'm willing to endure it if it means I can reach my goal of becoming an expert redstone engineer like my friend, time_warp1.
I am willing to debug technical issues myself before posting on a forum, and I'm familiar with many of the errors one might encounter in Minecraft and its mods. I would also be willing to provide technical support to anyone needing it, given I have the knowledge to understand what issue they're having.
I avoid "talking down" to people when I'm helping them debug something. I believe we all have the capacity to do what we most want, given a certain balance of motivation and assistance.
  • Special key (DON'T LEAVE BLANK!): HCs11
  • Additional Info: I'm not sure why it was in the "excellent" example application, but I too am good at programming. I know eight different languages (including Java, C/C++, C# and even x86 (32-bit) assembly), and have dealt with a wide variety of topics, including computer graphics (2D, 3D), game programming, optimization (algorithmic and low-level), procedural terrain generation (using heightmaps) and physics engines (jBox2D, Bullet).

Reviewing

Please Explain this ban:

2555240 soccermiles trevorman c.nerd.nu Griefing on C. Avon fanboy. nerd.nu/ap...

That was probably also my brother. Normally he kept his griefing in "minecraft classic", but he probably took some extra time once I actually bought Minecraft during Beta, to spread his flames to Beta servers. I've never heard of that server before. Basically the only server I've played on myself since buying Minecraft is Tekkify.

My brother may have been using my account until about a month ago when I migrated my account to mojang.com (and changed the password).

EDIT: Sorry about the long delay. I had to finish up some homework, and I thought you guys didn't review applications until Monday so I was doing some redstone exercises time_warp1 assigned me.

EDIT2: Edited my application to reflect the above.

Alrighty, I will whitelist you as it has been a long time since your 1 ban. Please be forewarned that greifing is not allowed in Bastion, and nor is anyone but you allowed on your account, you are responsible for your own actions taken on the server.
