So I've been thinking about 1.8 and dragoons.

1.8 will have a kind of flying for OPs/creative mode in SMP. And dragoons only have 2 skills, jump and charge. So what if our level 50 skill was this flying thing? It could cost a lot in reagents or something.

Charge will be useless due to run which is very fast if you saw the live stream, I made a thread in off topic to the youtube video

I would love that since im a healer but it would make no sense I could see them making this for either dragoon or a crafter spec or 2

The only spec that this would make sense for is dragoon. We are flying warriors after all.

Dragoons in FF context (which I'm assuming was main inspiration) don't fly. They just jump really high. They don't glide or jump across rooftops. They jump like 5 stories up and stab you in the eye with their dragoon lance.

They already do that just fine.

It doesn't make any sense that any class would fly. Unless there was a new class for healers called angel or something like that. All the classes in atm shouldn't get the ability to fly mainly because it doesn't make a lick of sense.

Well, it's for server ops and beta creative anyways. No real reason for any class to get it. Dragoons will be abusers of critical hits, and the effectiveness of that is undetermined as of now. Still holding out for a buff and a rebounding Jump- you hit something on your way down from the Jump, you fly back into the air. Because FF dragoons don't land on their enemies, they return to their spot afterwards.

And actually there were flying dragoons in FFXII: Revenant Wings, but they had angel wings anyways.

Overall, once 1.8 comes, Dragoons in particular will need some love, although I doubt we know how it should work out at the moment. We'll get there when we get there.

Weren't those called Ulhans?

Also, I'm thinking classic FF which includes FF6 and all before that.

Also, XII was my favorite :p

Lol, derail'd. The ones I'm thinking of are the Aegyl.

And I would try to fix my double post, but my phone is in the way. Apologies.

@robacollver I'm assuming that (like flying) running will have a disable feature in server.properties. It will probably be disabled because that would give people an unfair advantage, and Dragoons will lose a skill.

Crafters would benefit most. So they can fly to create stuff. And it wouldnt make them OP fighters since they suck at attacking anyways. Otherwise, I would say no class should fly. Very OP skill if anyone got it. But 1.8..... Ahhhh I cant wait
