Currently you are not able to bind /skill smeltiron to items. However, people with macromod can make macros to do this for them, legally. If that is legal, why not make item bind smeltiron legal?
SmeltGold isn't in-game. Needs confirmation.
and shush no-name don't ruin my point with common sense hax. Too late though, its ruined. I guess there isn't a strong reason to prevent Item Binding SmeltIron

Instead of this being an issue to begin with, why don't we make smeltiron an hour or half hour cooldown and just do up to 64 iron at a time, with a chance to double each one as it goes.
Both the chance, and the amount it does at once, as well as the cooldown, could all scale with level.
Edit:
Currently it's a 10 second cooldown, and I think 50% chance to double
Miner level 20 - 65
Skill Smelt Iron 10s cd
Someone with an auto-smeltiron macro could effectively get close to doing it
64 times in 640s and produces 96 iron.
Someone who is just normally playing and more especially, is still leveling, isn't too
focused typing, clicking with an item, or pressing a smeltiron macro button.
So, I suggest to give people incentive, we make smeltiron more worthwhile by increasing it's cd, chance to double, and amount, so that it's far superior than having everyone complain about auto macros and this would take some additional skill spam off the server in the long run. (not that it is probably a big deal or anything)
First, let's setup a few math problems and call them something.
(iron x 1.55 / 600s = iron per second) IPS
(iron x 1.55 = iron per cd) PWR
Currently, someone with an autosmelter macro looks like this
50% 10s 1 1.5 0.15
or, if they did 64
50% 640s 64 96 0.15
There's one less incentive to level as far as 'smeltiron' goes. However, the problem arises when comparing someone who does it a lot with an auto macro, vs someone who only does it when they need it, creating indifferences in the actual IPS produced.
If we buffed it a little bit, and increased the cooldown, as well as the amount down, during leveling, it would give people another reason to keep leveling their profession to scale their skills, it would cut down dramatically on smeltiron auto macro whoring discussions, and it could be tweaked obviously if you don't want to scale the "PWR" value beyond 96.
