Suggestion [Signs] Give Engineer &k Permissions

Since a long time ago, there has been a vulnerability that caused towns to exclusively use dirt without the option for player detector iron doors. This vulnerability lies in the transmitter and receiver circuits available to the engineering class. Any player who makes a transmitter in a loaded chunk can trigger any receiver on the same frequency. If a raider catches a glimpse of a frequency through a wall or by using xray cheats or through legitimate means, they have an ability to trigger that door whenever they may please, even having an option to make their own player detector to give themselves access whenever they want.

This is an issue that can very easily be solved by allowing engineers to use the &k permission that is available to tier 4 subscribers. Just the &k and no other feature of the "colored signs" pack is needed. This will allow us to hide the frequencies, much like Tier 4 engineers have been able to do in the past, and not be at a disadvantage gameplay-wise because a town does not have a supporter engineer.

If its possible to grant a specific permission node just for the & k we can add it to Engineer novice node. @cindy_k what do you think?

While it would be handy, that's completely unnecessary. You can write your name on the 4th line to lock that band to your name. You can only write your name on the bottom line, so a raider or anyone cannot add a transmitter or receiver to that network.

It's been a while since I heard about this and I completely forgot this this functionality existed. Thanks!

I think it should say this on the wiki, because right now it only says
  • Fourth line: (optional)
