Ohai HeroCraft,

Had a question about Siege Weapons and what is and what is not allowed with them.
Questions are as follows..;

-How far apart does each arrow barrage need to be?
-How many arrow barrages (At most) can be used at any one time [To avoid mass lag]?
-Is it legal to build (Temporary) arrow barrages for defense or offence in territory AWAY from your own town?
-If I were to create a megalith siege weapon with 50 arrow barrages, would the opposing town be able to legally destroy it?
-Do you like fish?

Alright. That's pretty much it.
Just that arrow barrages are fucking awesome, that's all. If we could link 50 together without causing super lag... <3

I'd sort of prefer that these sort of 'siege' structures, like Forward Attack Bases and Siege Weapons [WHEN USED IN OFFENSE] should be grief-able from either side, but that's up to you guys and the rulebook. Ofc if you've got a massive siege defense tower that you've built permanently for defense, you shouldn't be able to grief that so much as just capture it and either use it against the town if they've been stupid enough to make barrages pointing towards their own town, or to just walk away and stop em from using it again.

Making a mass military barracks that's basically one huge weapon. So I'm interested. =P

From the wiki:

MC1241 IC

(Arrow barrage that shoots 5 arrows)
ICs are compact versions of complicated circuits to perform tasks that are otherwise impossible with redstone.
You are only allowed to have 1 MC1241 per 15 blocks and only 1 per switch.

1 per switch? K, that means a mass machine needs a loooot of gunners.

These questions remain. If anyone else knows the answer, please tell me.

Thanks, Jonsoon. =)

I had an idea once of building one so high and wide it hit everywhere in the town but that would cause major lag an like jonsoons post your not allowed

There hasn't really been testing to c how much until they cause lag. Honestly if u lay it out right 1 or 2 barrages can cover a large area in arrows. But u probly wont get many kills using them as seige weaponry since they are pretty inacurate.

U can probobly set up barrages in the wild for defence as long as they follow the 15 block distance and 1 per switch, but in the wild someone can dig through a wall or sumsuch and avoid them (as long as they fix the wall).

If you build anything withing 100 blocks of an official townships rings then they have full rights to tear it down + u might get called out for greifing if u leave it there since u built on their land. and trying to build outside that 100 block limit wont really work either cause there is VERY little chance any arrows will reach the town.

I've used alot of arrow barrages and i find them most useful in choke points for defence instead of offence.

and I hate eating fish but i don't mind them otherwise.

Remember to light the arrows on fire with lava as well. =D

Also rather than a switch per barrage you could have a pressure plate for each one and have a few people running around on the pressure plates to keep up the barrage.

Also if you can manage to do this within the rules you are a god. I doubt it would cause much lag, especially since it wouldn't be able to shoot arrows for THAT long. Even if you had lots of arrows, there is no point after a bit because people will have taken refuge inside buildings.

Just good for an initial attack when people charge an entrance or to cover the retreat when you want the soldiers to survive the attack.

As for the rules though, I don't use redstone and don't know the ruling on this much. I just felt like posting some stuff.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I'll be making a TEST Ballista used on a makeshift underground cobble town soon, and will post screenies for those interested.

Thanks again for the quick replies, I'll take this stuff into mind when I make the weapon. My main worry was lag; if it lags the server, it won't be allowed at all. But we'll see.

As for using 2 barrages to cover an entire city; where's the fun in that? :p

I'd say something as me being the master of arrow barrage and its legal uses, but everyone here seems to have things covered
