Unless Doregard's idea ( [Admin]Kainzo[Paladin] ) or something along the lines of "[Admin] Kainzo the Paladin" is used, I'd have to say "No."

I'd rather try to get away from long, multiple titles, which is why I suggested being able to pick one title and switch them around at will, or turn them off at will as well. I'd rather not see the chat fill up with "[Guyman]punchfighter015[Assassin][Ponce]: lol y u run".

Lol some people could have really long names on here.

But really, all we have is posts as to why the titles are a bad idea unless you can turn them off. What are the reasons the people who voted yes have? More people voted yes than no so far but not a single one of those people posted a reply with their opinion. Only the people who are voting no seem to care at all.

Anyone who wants them wanna post? Why? How is it good? Would you like title switching? Need some opinions from the other side....

I voted yes, and I assumed that other people who wanted a class title, and title switching to go with it, also voted yes.

I voted yes because it would add a cool thing to your name and new players will stick around longer maybe if they have a sense of achievement. Also, you don't need to put the full name of the class, like, [M]For Mage. [Proctor][M]Domitius for example isn't that bad.

Shutting the hell up.
Could pull a Shining Force sort of deal. They abbreviated the class names. Like Swordsman was SDMN, Wizard was WZRD, and so on and so forth.

Hell, some of the class names are pretty long. Like Bloodmage and Enchanter and Architect. Simply abbreviate it down to maybe [BDMG], [ENCH], [ARCT], etc. This way, we don't have things like [Moderator]Xanipher[Architect] or whatever.

That's my two cents.

Mastering a class should allow an unlockable title, mastering all classes should as well. Simply typing that you want to be a warrior, however, should not.

I voted YES because of this idea.

MASTER titles should be achievable, but only at Lvl 50+. If I had that much XP built up, I would like to brag about it.

ex.

[MASTERbator]Brutalacerate

The ability to not reveal your chosen path would also be preferred.

I know we're not going for "real life realism" or anything, but if I saw some guy on the street and wanted to fight him, I wouldn't know what kind of fighter he was or what he was capable of/what he could use against me.

I'd love for that to be the case with Heroes.

I want to be able to keep my class a secret so people wouldn't know what to expect and also, believe it or not, I'd love to run up on someone to fight and get the hell knocked outta me because I didn't know they were a Warrior.....or just plain stronger.

I know I'm an Admin and I can't really participate in PvP, but just throwing my voice out there in case some others agree.

I'm of the complete opposite opinion. I can't think of a single videogame that has multiple classes and no visual way to identify them. Imagine TF2 but the heavy and the pyro look identical...

I'm against custom titles for classes in chat only because it would clutter the chat window. However, I'd like to see a colored tag in the persons nametag above their head so you can tell from a distance what class another player is and plan your strategy of attack accordingly.... or run away as fast as possible.

Colored initials denoting path, but not specializations. [W] [M] [R] [H] [C], or something.

That way you get an idea of what people do, but you don't get all the information right off the bat.

I have to vote no for this. The reason being is titles are for helping people to easily recognize someone , for example if someone needed to speak to a mod they would look for someone with the title [Mod]. It makes it easier for newbies to identify staff or mayors. If we give classes titles it will confuse new players. In my opinion titles are to help people easily recognize the types of people that can help them with problems. So giving titles to people with a certain class is pointless. Also I have to agree with Brutal. We want this server to be hardcore, not let people know instantly a guy's a warrior so they can run away. I mean I want to have to take care when I go around. Not know what the guys class is and debate what the best way to deal with him. So no because it will confuse people looking for staff. And make this server more forgiving , we are a Hardcore server not "Ow Im a crafter and that guys a warrior Im going to run away!"

I don't think showing what class someone else is makes anything less hardcore. There are some hardcore MMOs out there and every one I can think of has some visual distinction between classes.

Most games are balanced so that certain classes are more powerful than others in a rock-paper-scissors type thing, and certain classes need to be killed first if you engage a group of players. In a sense, having your class hidden makes the game less hardcore because mages and healers won't have to worry about being focus-fired like they rightly should.

When we have the ability to change the over head name - we'll talk more about it - but right now - its not possible without heavy client and server modding.

Changing the overhead name would be awsome! :p However yes, it would require heavy modding. Hopefully there is gonna be a day when we can do it with ease! :p

I reckon' the titles should be like this:

[Mage] MajorasMask

That would be cool. I dunno if Mage is an actual level name... but you get the idea! :p

The only problem would be if the name adds onto another name, making a very long title.

I feel titles would be a great addition to the heroes update, but as long as PvP was balanced enough that, for example, a "rogue" jumps a "Mage" and although the rogue got the first strike that Mage has enough power to potentially save himself. Titles can't decide a fight no matter the combination of classes in a battle. It should always boil down to skill of the player(s).

I think titles are an awesome idea. I also think titles at different points in leveling as a class would be cool too. For example, level 5 of every class is titled "apprentice", 10 - "novice", 20 - ?, and at max level, training for your class title or an achievement (kill 100 people with an ability from that class) will unlock that final title that sets you apart from all other classes (Warrior Amartin99999). I think the final title should be very difficult to earn, so only the best get the awesome tag. This system would also allow new players to feel a progression not just from experience/level but from prestige along the way.

I don't think titles by class to be a good thing. titles need to be for people of importance (staff, mayorship, SiC's, etc)
