Although if we take this from a lore perspective... There are currently no female characters implemented by Notch, so all characters are technically male no matter the skin.

My opinion of skins is that steve just killed someone with that skin, put in as a full body outfit, and put it over his own skin. So technically all characters could be female, or just wearing a female's skin.
