As for the IP changing, that is also another issue. I think we should just blacklist the known proxies.

Be very careful with this. I've already said it and it bears restating, the services seem to list IPs not actually proxies.
Just tried again on the Wiki to see if it still blocks me for "proxy" (which I'm notably not using) and it is.

IP banning doesn't do much since it's very easy to change your ip, in some cases a simple switch that takes 20-30s to do on your router. We have banned and will ban people who hack/exploit.

There are HC players who are known alts of banned 'problem players'. Will this be changed, and if so, how? What regulations can be enforced against these players so that the rules apply to everyone?

All I need to do to change my IP address is unplug my router then plug it back in. It changes pretty regularly on its own without my help anyway. Thought I'd back up what you said with an example :p

The problem is unless we have proof, such as they admit it or IP proof, we cannot just ban the person.

The problem is unless we have proof, such as they admit it or IP proof, we cannot just ban the person.

How can we either: provide proof that fits those definitions OR redefine what it takes for proof of alt accounts?

It seems unlikely that they will admit it, and the premium whitelist system means that for 6 dollars there will not even be any initial staff investigation into the account, which has been so crucial to maintaining the best community.

Therefore, without change to either the premium whitelist or to the Staff's ability to stop exploiters, alt accounts of banned problem players will continue to pollute the server. What is all the hardline authoritarian staff dialogue for if these players are still here?

Oh, really? So it's impossible to not tell your computer's client to save the password and make sure the sibling doesn't know it?
Anyway, yes, the "Sibling got on my account and did XYZ" normally is a stupid excuse, because of the above being so simple to implement.
There's a difference between policies of "If one user is banned, anyone ever there shall be banned" (what you're apparently supporting) and "You are responsible for what happens on your account" (which is a valid policy and what you used the example as)

I think what it seems to come down to is, once a problem player, always a problem player? If you are so worried about them being one, just give them the time it takes to do something to get themselves banned again. Griefing can be undone with time?

The track record is; once a cheater always a cheater.
It's rare that people change and the same action will be applied again.

We reserve the right to close any and all accounts/access to Herocraft Online at any time for any reason.

I wish we had a list of players who have been banned and a public reason why - like you see when you're online when the ban happens. I know several players that should have received bans but since I wasn't on I didn't see the actual ban and have no idea if they did or not. Would also like a list to check when players apply to my town - I don't want someone in my town that likes to skirt the rules over and over.

Also be careful banning all proxies - there are times when I'm at work that I log into HC to vote, play during lunch or such and if you ban all proxies I won't be able to do this anymore. I think there are a lot of people who do this during their lunch time (or all day maybe) and a complete proxy ban would stop that.
