Redstone Banned?

So I logged in to teamspeak today to hear Dasoren tell me that Apherdite said redstone combination locks are illegal. I also heard that after Dasoren took down the lock the tick rate went from 4/20 to 12/20. I don't know how related the 2nd fact is, but I've seen the design Dasoren used through a video and if that causes lag then almost anything redstone related will.

This being said, I feel this pretty much makes engineers useless, as no really useful circuitry can be made, which makes pistons kind of pointless as well.

Now I would hope that this issue can be solved, but in the event that coders are too busy to look into it, would it be possible to either get:

A. A respec into another crafter spec, spec payment is made, level is adjusted to the level I had on my engineer

B. A free respec into another crafter spec, no level adjustments

Personally I think it would be overdoing it to give both. Anyways if this can't be done, I suppose I'll just do some jobs for people and pay the coin, but it would be nice if something could be arranged.

Anything that drops our tick rate considerably, will be removed.
After disabling the lock, we went from 4 TPS (with 85 online) to 12 TPS
It's quite simple that some of the circuits will tax us quite hard under full load and we will do what is necessary to keep ahead in the tickrate.

The IC portion do not seem to be taxing as hard, it's the redstone torches that put the heat on our CPU, we haven't done extensive testing but in the very little we have done, it's the number cause for latency.

Ok, admitedly there were a LOT of redstone torches in his design. This brings 2 questions to my mind
Do you have a guideline we can find for how many redstone torches we can have in a circuit? (or chunk?)
Do you know if redstone repeaters cause more or less lag then redstone torches?

This is just getting silly. I noticed no difference in lag prior to banning this to what it is now regardless of what the "ticks" were. Just going to drive more and more good members away.

that dungeon was abandoned a while back because of lag unfortunately. we'll still be designing epic dungeons, we'll just have to rely more and more on IC's until the code of Minecraft is done better. It's not Kainzo's fault and it's not any player's fault, it's Notch's coding and java.

I'm just failing to see or feel this lag you guys are freaking out about. There wasn't even much lag on the last map when all this shit was allowed. (comb locks etc etc)

You honestly dont understand how a server works. The dungeon in question didnt cause any actual "TPS" loss. However it created massive spikes in chat and gameplay that were quite noticeable to me and others playing.

As stated above, we will do WHATEVER we can to ensure that we have a lag free environment. It's very important or otherwise we will drive good players away :p

The ultimately solution? Better coded/multithreaded minecraft. Even in that case, I don't believe it will ever be able to handle such a large/complex operation that was created.

Since you play here on this server, you put trust in staff to run a lag free, hack free, legit server that is unbiased and fair to everyone. I spend almost every waking minute of my life to make this server better and I get constant whining about how "the good ole dayz r gonez!"
The only static thing in this world is change ;)
