REBELLION

Phase 1.0

Japan, 2024 A.D.

The massive discovery of a second dimension, lead to magical disaster within the world. All the nations allied to help deal with this threat. All but Japan… the place where the strongest evokers are born. Consequently it is the area that most risky area to live in, as it is the zone where most Hell Gates open.

The area was nearly destroyed twice over, but the people practices magic and combat against these demons because it was necessary for their survival. They refused all help from the Holy Emperor and his Empire. And tension which could lead to a third world war arose.

A man quickly runs down a long dark corridor. The man turns around, but his eyes are covered in the shadow of his hood. He approaches the light at the end of the hallway. Panting, he desperately gains a quick burst of speed and breaks through a window.

Light envelops his entire face as his hood flies off from falling so quickly He had ocean blue eyes and black hair which was long enough to almost cover his eyes fully. He wore a gray hoodie and the regular blue jeans.

Continuing to fall, as if shadows had enveloped him again, he had managed to reach the other side of the street. He landed on a small building and what seemed to have been a certain death drop; he simply rolled off, and then ran onwards unscathed.

The man continued running, promptly arriving at his destination, Shinji High school. This specific high school was owned by the man’s father, Lord Earl Leon, a nobleman of course. The man entered the front gates of the school only to be bumped into by a group of girls.

“Oh it’s you, Shouta-kun, you can’t always be late to your classes!” said a small meek girl

“What a bother... Akane-chan, did you get what I missed at least?” Shouta replied in bored tone.

Infuriated by Shouta, Akane took a textbook she was holding and hit him over the head. The other group of girls laughed as Shouta fell to the ground with a pained expression on his face. Rubbing his head he mustered,

“Ow! Akane that hurt!”

“Good! Maybe you’ll remember to come to class next time” She retorted.

“It wasn’t my fault! My uncle wanted to see me again…” He replied with calmness in his voice.

All the fire from her eyes had disappeared, and she had now taken on more of a worried look. She thought to herself but decided not to further investigate.

As the bell rang, they entered their fourth class together. Shouta, who sat beside the window was occupied looking outside, directly behind him, Akira, his best friend was also dozing off and not paying attention.

Akane showed little expression yet it could be seen in her eyes she was worried for Shouta, who had an abusive uncle. Ever since his father, the headmaster was taken to the hospital.

Shouta looked as though he had difficulty. His father was a diplomat of the Minister’s alliance towards the Holy Empire.

Ever since demons decided to show up through the Hell Gate’s around the world, everyone became uneasy. Because the dimensions are being kept stable by the best Evokers the empire provided, Japan was the highest target for the demons.

“Hell, the first evident dimension which is different from ours is a cornerstone in the fabric of space. Ever since it was created… Mr. Leon, I understand you are worried for the headmaster, but I’d be more worried about your grades.”

He fixed his glasses.

“The Holy Empire can’t turn you into soldiers when you are ill informed and unknowledgeable –“

“And what if we don’t want to be dogs for the military?” arose Akira from his desk.

“Then you are branded traitors and placed into the Lucid Prison…”

Murmurs spread around the class.

“How can a government-“

“It’s a monarchy Mr. Nori, and it is simply not my decision to make.”

“Then the next generation will do it.” He retorted.

“How noble of you, but these are desperate times. Now I advise you to sit down before you take anymore of class time.”

After the bell rang, Akira and Shouta left the classroom. It was the end of the day and they left the school. Shouta noticed something.

“Crap, Crap! It was Akane’s birthday today! I forgot to give this to her!”

In his hand was a bracelet, no doubt worth a fortune.

“Oh come on, something that expensive… you? Be more honest, you stole it didn’t you” Akira let out a hearty laugh.

“Yeah I got it from my uncle…”

“You mean stole” Akira replied but was cut off immediately. A massive explosion happened right behind them on the opposite end of the street. Shouta looked back with a shocked expression, because he knew who’s house it was

“Akane…!”

He gasped as he dropped his bag and ran towards the wreckage. When he got there it was too late. A hell gate had opened up partially. By the looks of it, it was a size 9 Hell Gate. With this, the Hell Gate would have to be closed by at least three extremely high ranked Evokers.

An arm reached through the gate. It was massive, just by the size of the arm; the demon could have been over fifteen meters tall. The arm reached through and waved around, hitting the ground.

Half of its face now proceeded through the gate. Its eyes were bloodshot, and it had slits like a snake. It looked to have patchy hair, which was dark.

It stopped flailing its arm, and finally picked a target: Akane. It picked her up and looked at her closely.

Akira had finally caught up with Shouta, but he fell to his knees.

“It’s… hopeless… there is no way we can live through this… We will die”

Shouta was furious. Desperately, he ran towards the demon, screaming in anger.

End Phase.

I want more! My hunger for this novel beats my hunger for Hayate the Combat Butler.
Seriously, well done, got some nice action and suspense that are sure to keep readers waiting for more.

P.S The protagonist, Shouta's physical appearance is very similar to my own physical appearance in my dreamy stories, except I keep my IRL brown eyes

Phase 1.1

Before he could even react, the other arm, and now the entire torso broke through the Gate. The other arm swiped Shouta away as if he were a bug.

Akira, stood there petrified, blinded by the light, and the fires of the Hell Gate. It was all covered up by a cloak however. A large man, dressed in armor. He knew this man.

“Headmaster, I thought you were in the hospital! Please help! Shouta he… died.”

“My idiot of a son is too stubborn to die, you know that. His mother watches over him after all…”

The demon raises his arm, and brings it forcefully down crashing into the ground. The headmaster had moved in a flash, moving Akira out of the Hell Gate’s zone.

“What about Shouta! You can’t leave your son to die!”

“Listen. The reason Shouta can take care of himself is that he’s been educated how to run away from demons.”

“You don’t know your son well enough, he’s stubborn, and he’ll try saving Akane.”

“She’s gone now… nothing could be done. And he’s far too weak to even try that. He’ll run sooner or later.”

Meanwhile at the Hell Gate, the Evokers and Inquisitors begin to show up. The low level Evoker’s set up a barrier, whereas the Inquisitors drew their weapons, mainly consisting of swords, but some had crossbows and bows.

The demon, which was out of control frantically, swung his arms around. It easily destroyed the barrier and any inquisitor jumping towards it.

Their ranks were in disarray.

“Do not falter men! It is a mere demon; we must prove it the superiority of the human-“The Soldier got cut off as the demon bit his torso off his body leaving only a leg.

The men screamed in anguish as they ran from the demon. The demon now had all of its body outside of the Hell Gate.

It was over fifteen meters tall. It was below the record, but still taller than any shorter building residential buildings nearby.

It held Akane between his two fingers. It opened its mouth a raised her over it.

“Akane! Don’t die!” Shouta screamed. He kicked off a building and flew straight into the demons mouth, with an Inquisitor’s blade in hand. There was a spark in his eyes; he didn't know what he was doing. He just acted off instinct and adrenalin.

He broke the blade off the demon’s hard skin, regardless he grabbed onto its scaly deep red skin. The demon took no notice and was loosening his grip on Akane.

“You promised you wouldn’t die! You promised you’d help me in my classes! We made so many promises that you and I won’t be able to keep if you disappear.” He screamed.

With finality, the demon let go of Akane.

With rage, before the demon snapped its mouth shut, Shouta jumped in after Akane. Holding her tightly, the demon’s insides squished them together. There was so much blood. Shouta felt as though he was losing consciousness

“Shit… this isn’t good… I have to stay… awake” He thought to himself.

He held Akane’s hand. It was too hot within the demon, as it was probably digesting them. More and more blood filled the squirming cavern of the demon’s throat.

Bodies also started piling up atop them, no doubt due to the demon massacring hundreds of innocents, while killing thousands more. He was about to pass out. When he’d wake up, perhaps he’d be in hell… perhaps some ulterior version of heaven. He couldn’t even think anymore. His jaw muscles loosened and blood flowed into his mouth. Mindlessly he swallowed. He couldn’t tell anything from anything anymore.

A surge of power; a strong heartbeat, he opened his eyes. He looked determined but angry. As if something had changed. He placed Akane over his shoulder.

He didn’t think, or have time to think, so he began to climb. He pushed bodies out of his way; there was so much blood on him that even his vision seemed to have a tint of red.

For what felt like ages, they finally reached its mouth. Its slit tongue looked somewhat that of a snake’s; Bones were stuck in its sharp teeth.

Shouta grabbed a bone, and stabbed the side of the demon’s cheek. He saw no scales on the face, so he assumed it was un-armored. He cut through the demon’s mouth. With Akane over his shoulder, He jumped out.

He landed on the ground, but unlike his many jumps he did before, as soon as he landed, lost all strength. He fell over unconscious and passed out.

Phase 1.2

After the incident, the Demon opened a Hell Gate and returned to its own dimension.

On the ground lay Shouta. His body was all bruised and the acid that was digesting him and Akane was still steaming on his clothes.

“Wait here…” said the headmaster to Akira.

“But-“he was cut off due to the headmaster flash stepping away. It was a unique form of instantaneous travel to those who could master it.

He arrived at the scene, with a weapon drawn in his hand. It was a blade similar to a rapier. It had a guard shaped like angel wings.

Surveying the scene and witnessing the close of a Hell Gate, he was shocked. He saw Shouta lay on the ground two feet from the unscathed Akane.

Suddenly, he was surrounded by inquisitors. They all viewed him with happiness and energetic expressions.

“Three cheers for Earl Leon for defeating the Pit Lord and saving countless lives! – “

“No… it wasn’t me… I had nothing to do with this.” He replied.

“Then who could have done that? No one we know in this region could have sent that thing back!” the cheers of the Evokers and Inquisitors rung through the streets.

“It was… him…” He said as he pointed to his son, still a shocked expression on his face.

All the inquisitors and evokers placed their gaze upon the unconscious bodies of Akane and Shouta.

“Enough!” A deeper voice came from the crowd. Instantaneously, all the men except Earl had bowed their heads for this man. The Fourth General Edwin Godkin approached the scene.

“Restrain the boy and the girl, as well as Earl Leon.” He stated in a deep voice.

He had full plate mail armor on, and had a large two handed long sword strapped to his back, He also wore a cape, but tailored into his cape was the Roman numeral IV, which meant four. He had a white beard and long, white, shaggy hair.

Without question, the men moved, and picked up the bodies. They hesitated to seize Earl however. They knew he was a man of great magical power. And fighting with him would end in certain death. However, he placed a smile on his face and held out his arms, as if accepting his fate.

After the incident, classes had resumed. Akira, who had ran when he had the chance, went to class the first thing next morning, only to discover those two weren’t there. Their names weren’t even called on the attendance, as if all memory of them was wiped.

~-------~A week later~-------~

Another regular school day, but they still have not showed up.

“Excuse me Mr. Lenox! Where is Shouta-kun and Akane-chan?” He stood up, asking hastily.

“Ah them, due to certain circumstances, they could not arrive at school today, I imagine the matter will be sorted out soon however.”

Gritting his teeth he looked out the window. He knew Shouta always loved freedom, and Akira could only assume that being gone for this long must mean he’s being held captive.

He ran out of the classroom, his red hair over his eyes.

“Mr. Nori! Where are you going?”

Akira ran out of the school, and continued up the street. He knew that if Shouta was fine, he’d be at the spot they hung out at since their childhood. He thought maybe it was all a joke to scare him.

He arrived at the Lone tree, outside the neighborhood area and in the forest. Shouta was not present.

“Are you looking for him too? I heard that idiot took on a Pit Lord by himself, to save some woman. Hah!” said a girl’s voice. It was definitely coming from above. Akira looked up and saw a woman in a pure white cloak. It had no number on it unlike the Fourth General’s.

“Who are you!? Do you know where Shouta is?” He screamed.

“Oh so he has a name… Shouta… No wonder my sister fell for him, it’s a nice name, ah as for my name. I’m Yuki Izumi. Akane’s sister.”

She jumped from the tree. She was a bit taller than Akira, and looked down on him easily.

“Listen, I know where he is, and I know where my sister is. We can go help them, but I need your help. Can you do that for me?” she said that and added a slight wink at the end.

“I’ll do anything for Shouta!” he replied with determination.

~-----~Meanwhile~-----~

Shackled to the ground, in an unknown location, there lay Shouta exhausted and bloody.

“Do you know why you are here?” said the fourth General.

“Am I supposed to?” Shouta replied.

“Explain to us once more what happened.”

Shouta recalled the story to the point where he was about to lose consciousness within the demon’s throat. He said demon blood had seeped down his throat. The rest he could not remember

In response to that, two inquisitors took large iron rods and brought them down atop of Shouta’s arms crushing the bones. Shouta let out an anguished scream.

“We’ve been doing this for a week now; do you understand the predicament you are in? You will not be able to leave this place. Now further tell us how you defeated the demon.” He stated once more.

“If I would have remembered, I would have told you! But I do not, so let me go! This is against my rights.”

“Heretics have no rights, only death.” He retorted in anger.

“I am not a Heretic; I don’t know what’s going on!”

“Tell us or we will kill-“He was cut off as bright light filled the dimly lit room. Standing at the door was Earl, who was no lingered shackled. He held up his hand showing a seal.

“This is the seal of the Royal Magistrate Court. Under my command, Shouta Leon is to be released with no charges held. And under no circumstance is he to be attacked by the Holy Empire.”

The fourth General had a calm anger in his eyes.

“Very well, take this eye sore out of my sight and escort them both off the premises.”

“Wait… You… Scumbag… where is Akane?” Shouta screamed.

“Oh right, that woman. We have her locked up nice and tight. And Mr. Leon’s seal can’t do anything about it.” He replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

“Actually, I have another seal for the immediate release of one Akane Izumi. There is no way I can leave my students in such an unsafe place after all.”

The General looked away and simply nodded to another inquisitor. Moments later, Akane walked through the door way. She had a blank look in her eye; Lifeless and soulless. The headmaster threw his cloak around her and they all walked out.

As soon as they reached the teleportation stone, they were greeted by a familiar face.

“Shouta you bastard, don’t ever do something so reckless again or I’ll kick your ass personally!” screamed Akira half tearing up.

“Akane, are you alright?” asked Yuki. Akane didn't move. “Good.”

The next moment, blood splattered all over the floor. Yuki had pierced Akane’s shoulder with a thin blade.
