Possibly Restructure T2 Skills

So, as it's known, the new dungeon system is intended to have mobs that are more difficult than the current ones.

This leads to the issue that T2 classes have these shiny skills that might be really helpful for leveling (ShockTotem, maybe Consecration) which you get immediately when you don't need them - max level.

There's two ideas so far:
  • Move down the level T2 gets its ultimate skill (assuming T2 continues to start at lvl 1, still in the air)
  • Swap the T2 skill with a T1 skill that isn't quite as necessary (if possible without infuriating too many people)

There might be better ideas, though those were the ones mentioned at the meeting just now.

@Balance Team Perhaps there's something missed or a better way to do this. Seems the current ones aren't going to be good to keep up with, though.

What if the level was moved down to 45?
Since you should blaze through the first 30 levels or so with the dungeons (Assuming 30 for T2 since T1 is ~40) you'd still have some time after getting all your T1 skills before getting the new one. But you'd also have 15 more levels to gain WITH your fancy new T2 skill.

Just a thought.

No solutions to offer, but a few thoughts to throw in here:

Firstly:
  • If the "ultimate" skill is gained at less than max level, what incentive is there to continue leveling, and won't that make the level the ultimate comes in the new defacto "max" level?
  • If ultimate skills were to be brought in at lower levels than max, what incentive could be incorporated to make continuing to the max level of 60 still attractive?
Secondly:
  • If the T1 and T2 skills differ, or are in different orders, this is going to make things hell complicated at the Wiki. Wouldn't want to duplicate the pages - we don't need another 18 class pages - and another option would be to put a second table of skills on each T1 page - but these pages are already long enough, and having them all in the one table facilitates players comparing the T1 and T2 classes.
  • Not saying don't do it for this reason, just saying please consider very carefully and don't make changes to the skills/levels btween T1 and T2 lightly.

  • You gain attribute points with each level which increase the numbers on skills. If we wanted to change logic, we could make some more skill logic level based so it gets stronger (though the mechanics are roughly the same) with levels. Another dev's example was making Fireball shoot 3 balls in a cone instead of 1
  • Second question is a rehash of the first

  • Not differing them, no. Switching out a T1 skill for the T2 one. The difference would be the same across both, just like switches of levels skills are gained that have already happened
  • Not really a response to something, but this would require the skill moved to T2 be useful, not necessary and not amazing for leveling. Really depends on the class, a few probably can't be dealt with very well this way.

Yeah, goal would not be to hand it out at 25 (or whatever t1 skills are all regained by, might change eventually) but not so far that it's like "would've been great to have when I was ACTUALLY LEVELING"
