[Plugin] ChopTree (Floating Tree Fix)

I'm fairly sure someone has suggested this before or at least this has been talked over, but I'll go on..

I know that most of you, if not all have seen the floating tree problem in Herocraft. I'm not sure if people do it on purpose, or they are just plain lazy. Nevertheless I believe this is the answer to our problem! All you need to do is chop the bottom block of the tree, and the rest of the wood located anywhere on the tree will collapse. Now I'm sure a few of you are thinking "What about log houses/structures, won't they be easier to grief?" My answer to this is no! It clearly states in the Bukkit thread that this will not happen.

I have had some experience with this plugin on another server and it worked great! One problem is, you won't be able to get full experience from every block with this, as it will only give experience for the one block you destroyed.

Also, I'm not sure if this would even begin to be compatible with the Heroes mod. Either way, thanks for reading! Please leave your comments below. =)

I've seen ssp mods like this, and I totally support the addition of this plugin.

Large trees rarely get fully chopped down, leaving their tops floating and ugly. Since this (if it works anything like the mods I've seen) plugin is capable of detecting and destroying naturally occurring woodblocks for the tree in question, and only that tree, it's just a matter of modifying the plugin slightly so that each woodblock taken like this will still give exp when broken.

The mod for this that I've used before balanced the ease of gathering by causing 3x durability damage per block broken, both by the player and by the plugin: an 8 block tree harvested in this manner would cause 24 damage.

That's a very smart idea!

Someone made a thread about this before. Kainzo said no, because it causes lag. If I remember correctly.
I would very much like to know how it causes lag. :confused:

Its a bad idea, because we also loose experience.
I can't imagine for all classes that a log is that much exp. For me, it's 1.5 exp. One way or another some sacrifice would have to be made. A little less exp for a whole lot more pleasing map.

Well with every post comes a troll. Quite frankly I could answer why most of those things work, but on a serious note I was simply curious how ChopTree causes lag. :)

Someone made a thread about this before. Kainzo said no, because it causes lag. If I remember correctly.

Block detection is always laggy (it has to check all nearby blocks as it goes up and down to try and find all the proper tree blocks connected) - we don't intend to implement things like this as it sidesteps both the effort required to get resources and does not interact properly with Heroes Skills or Xp.
