Notch adding Aether?

You noticed how this was announced after "Terraria" came out showing it has land in the sky lol.

This was actually confirmed by Notch a while back, like a couple months, saying first he would fix up the Nether a bit. maybe making it (the Nether) available in normal SMP counts as fixing it up a bit.

He really shouldn't bother with an aether yet...The nether really needs to be changed up instead. Maybe another mob down there, a super rare ore used to make ghasts ignore you or something if you have the whole set, something else in the terrain besides endless lava and netherrack. It's hell, but it could still look nicer. Can't think of a whole lot but im sure there have been plenty of awesome ideas to add to the nether that aren't completely ridiculous.

The aether is a good concept that people have been asking for a long time, but the current game's content should be improved before adding whole new lands.

wolf, you forgot the main purpose of hell originally: make the travels faster by reducing the nether size as a fraction of the world size, well, soon to be working in smp...

in this logic, i suppose the aether world will be the opposite: a small distance in main world mean a long distance in aether, making it a super huge map

It would be cool to be able to get a weapon/item from Aether to fight against things in Nether, and vice-versa.
