Minecraft/computer help

Hey everyone,
So i got a new laptop and it came today. The first thing i did was download minecraft. I opened it and it opened to the main page where you log in and it has all the update notes. But when I log in it says "Login Failed", i then have the option to "Try Again" or "Play Offline". The only thing is, the "Play Offline" button is un-clickable and under it, it says "Not Downloaded" im not sure what to do, i found a thread on the minecraft forum where someone had the same problem but no one helped them.

What version of Java do you have? You may need to update that.

when i first downloaded minecraft on my new laptop i did not have java installed, so i clicked on the window and it brought me to a download page, i then downloaded whatever version that was. Next time im home i will check.

You need to be online at least once for it to download minecraft and let you play offline.

but i am connected to the internet, so idk why it isnt working.

Did you try playing in the Browser at least once?

i fixed it, maybe you didnt read through my whole last post, i edited it earlier.
