I am going to be short and sweet with this, and I would like a clarification of the rules, A. does the list that is linked with /rules override what a moderator says?
and B. If I am spying on a town, or entering their chat, and a mod is in the town, is it fair to say that I am "Harassing Staff" as DrHeretic put it, claiming it was banable. If it is, that makes towns with mods op, if not please inform him of the rules.

B. If you were only spying on them then no that's not harassing staff or bannable, which mod would that be?

#1 @DrHeretic (tagging just cause he is the subject) is not a mod, he is a proctor.

#2 You can't just give a general overview of this kind of thing, you gotta give some specifics about what you said in chat, because that's how misunderstandings arise.

My interpretation of the "no harassing staff" rule is that it applies really only when a player is directly interfering in staff business or preventing said staff member from doing their job. Other than that I say suck it up for the most part.

As for the actual harassment rule I think there are other ways to go about it than a ban based on what you described (not necessarily what happened), and that would be kicking you from the town chat, which the owner of the channel should be able to do, or just a plain and simple mute if it was getting out of hand.

But again, I don't know what actually happened. Just remember not to be a dick and that sort of thing.

Harassment in general isn't allowed. Though if it is in a private channel, they can ban/kick you from said channel with no reason since it is up to them. The answer is: don't harass people. If you were just joining the chat and you triggered them by that, don't worry, they are just being stupid.

Outside of private channels though, including shout and local, that could land you a mute or a ban depending on what you said.

9/10 what a Mod+ says goes, rarely do we backpedal.

Harassment of any kinda is tolerated globally. In private chats people can just kick or ban you from their channel at their leisure, but in public chats such as Trade, Help, Shout, etc, it's a banable and mutebale offense.

There's also 0 context for any of this, so there's really nothing we can say.

I one stated to stop sending pmings to my townies harassing them. I do not care to pursue with this factor. Only that he keeps the /tell spam to my SIC's/Townies to a halt. I will collect screenshots of and further pmings to my townies. I have him /ignored

A. Me and Zan are not the same person I used his account a long time ago when my wasn't working
B. obviously the screens are from an enraged me, which was just kicked and kill from his town, losing everything
C. I was only discussing with your townies, you can ask them
D. I said nothing in the town chat, just listening in, was wondering if a real ban could be applied for that,
E. not meant to criticize DrHeretic at all, nor justify my actions, I am only seeking a sound resolve at what truly the rules of the server are.

"spying" on someone's chat is not bannable, there is a reason mayors get channel moderator of their town channel etc..

Things like that is why /ignore exists.

In my experience staff will rarely get involved with anything that is said in private as tools are provided for players to deal with these kind of issues themselves. It's only when things start to enter global channels on a regular basis that I ever got involved and that was because it'd usually just end up in a flame war spamming the chat channel so I'd mostly deal with it from that point of view rather than the "harassment".

It's usually only if people go to the extend of posting real life information etc that harassment goes that step too far that it needs to be dealt with. (this is me speaking from my perspective and not as a staff member dictating actual rules)
