Lava Buckets...

How about that you lower the damage on FLOWING lava?? And thus keep "still" lava just as damaging as it is now.
This will keep the deadliness of traps/random spawned pits of lava, but lowers the damage in PvP situations, because lava will start to flow if you do not place it surrounded which usually is the case.
Also I think I remember that flowing lava is a different hex-value, so implementing shouldn't be that hard :p.

In a fight with lava buckets you almost always place it directly on them, meaning they are standing in the source block rather than the flow, so changing the damage for the flow wouldn't help a whole lot.

Good idea though, might be something good that can be implemented along with whatever solution Kainzo picks.

Right now they are currently restricted to Crafters Lvl 30 and all specs have them.

I think in PVP the lava damage is so severe it may be game altering. Which means we need to find ways to fix this, either by lowering the lava damage (universally) or restricting Lavabucket to Masons (means no one can place lava unless they go mason, etc)

Your thoughts?

Masons and/or smiths. This has happened quite a bit to me, I'm walking around, someone decides to place a lava bucket, I don't stand a chance/

So why are you wanting to restrict it to masons or smiths?
What about alchemist, they need this for the cauldrons,
Engineers do not realy need lava, but during mining all crafters will incounter lava, it would be nice to be able to gather lava nad move it or be able to pick it up in buckets for later use or to sell it. umm i guess next a merchant will not be able to get/use/sell place lava!
come on guys next the bitch will be that only certain classes can use a bow or a sword!!
Let Kainzo and the staff try to balance this,
Please post inputs/ideas/concern not guess's on limits or levels, Kainzo and the staff does that!

ok im stfu, i spoke my peace

You could make lava flow like water. This way it makes it more dangerous, and no one would want to place it so carelessly.

Carrying a bucket of lava should be dangerous in general. Hauling around a 5 gallon bucket of water without spilling a bit if move too fast is an amazing feat. Trying running around with one for a bit. I bet your pants will be wet in no time. Now imagine if it was lava.

Maybe a delay on being able to pour it out and if you are struck in that time frame it dumps out on the tile you are on? I'm not sure how intricate the solution can be without causing more issues or just being a bitch to implement.
