Lack of mobs

I don't know for you, but I've never seen any animal apart of cats on the server. As for monsters, what?3-4, zombies and as much creepers...
So, kain, would you please fix that, or atleast explain(if that's intentional) why they're so few mobs

It's a bukkit / spigot issue. Mobs spawn in dark areas and most of the time thats not on the overworld.

Like Kainzo said, mobs spawn in dark areas. If you have a large cave system or darkrooms ( hope not ) they won't spawn on the overworld. Wish I could post a book here. lolo5266 written a very good explaining book about mobs and spawn rates.
For now, heres what I do. Every night go out and find a place where mobs tend to spawn. There are some "hotspots" out there which you can use. Certain areas / biomes.
