You can sell your shards and fragments the the Exchange in Heroes Landing. This is where you originally spawned. You can travel here again by going to your world's spawn city and taking the boat to the Landing. From there you will want to travel North towards the trade district and Exchange. There are some signs to guide you, too.

It takes forever and its a really long way to walk from 0,0.
Ideally it would take 1 to 2 minutes, but as it stands it takes 5 since you have to walk back once getting to the exchange to recall.
Its something I dont agree with.
