I've worked out with a few people including @AlexDaParrot some crafting exp changes that are more balanced while also standing out rather then having crafting exp be just a "neat feature". Note, Crafting should compliment Mining/Logging.

Imo, crafting commodities need to give more exp, since that is what everyone usually makes when they are out mining/building things.

I don't usually make iron armor and diamond armor when im mining, nor do i make the weapons. If we nerf mining so that it would work in conjunction with crafting, then we need to figure out what we often make when we're mining so that the value of exp gained from making those item will balance out the loss of exp from mining.

Those items are,

mining equipments: stone/iron/diamond shovels, pickaxes
Food: mushroom stew, bread, etc
torches
work benches/furnace

Some love for builders might be nice as well, making it so that making things like ladders, buckets, dye, colored wool, bone meal, staircases, slabs, sandstone, doors, railway, mine carts and so on yield more exp.

No one in their right mind would try to mass produce these items, because it's of no value to them when they finish making them. Right now, killing mobs in a spawner yield exceptional and very steady EXP. I've gone from lvl 43-50 in just about 4-5 hours of play time the last two nights. If I were to mine, it would take me triple to quadruple the time it take.

Thanks for the input R3xz! What do you think the new values should be? While what you say makes a lot of sense it all comes down to numbers in the end.

I can't really state it enough... These values arent to see you "grind" them - that's mentality of a consumer whore! GET IT NOW OH MY GOD!

The values seem pretty fair from what i've seen, two things

1) Golden_Apple: 1000 - laugh.
2) mark the exp changes in red

They're not "grinding"

They're more for like, getting the lost exp back that you could have had before the mining nerf. No one in their right mind would want to "spam craft" thousands of stone tools to get exp, and even if they do, it's a waste of material and STILL SLOWER than if they use a spawner/go out kill random shit. All im say is, the material we dug up and collected that goes toward common items made every day should be HIGHER, so that we could get a fair amount of exp back before the hit on mining was made.

Weapons and armor are not crafted as nearly as often as mining equipments do, nor building blocks like ladders, fences, staircases, bookshelves and other decorations. This was why i suggested that those value go up slightly so that people who enjoy mining or building things could still get fairly decent exp.

Also, i wonder if we could get exp for smelting and cooking food in the furnace as well, I was going to suggest that but hold off due to wanting to see how crafting exp was going to be implemented before suggesting it. But now i felt like we could use something like that along with crafting.

Haha, I "spam crafted" 5 stacks of furnaces... XD I had nothing else to do with all that cobble... someones stolen four of them.

I'd just like to say that at a linear progression with all the gold XP lining up correctly, Golden apples should be worth 1080 XP [Considering that gold would = 15xp/ingot as it is shown in the rest of the items]. Once you consider the materials it takes to make one of those freakin' apples it is no wonder it would be a thousand xp...

Also, I'd like to see mob spawners [The natural kind] disabled or give 0 xp. That would even the field out again as currently fighting classes can just camp a spawner for a couple hours as stated about and gain huge amounts of xp. Crafting classes, on the other hand, do not have that luxury ._.
