Free Running Mod

While I was browsing the interwebs today I came across a Minecraft mod called The Freerunner's Mod. This mod allows you to run a bit faster (which if implemented to the server i think should be taken out), climb 3 block high walls, wall run, wall jump, roll upon falling, and just generally make people more ninja . I love this mod and think it would be a great addition to the server, it is completely multiplayer compatible, if you download the version that doesn't add the new blocks which are unessential. I think this mod would be an awesome addition to the server, but one thing I don't know is if it's compatible with bukkit . I hope this gets considered and thank you for reading. There is another very similar mod called the Le Parkour mod. It is smoother and better designed, but I don't know if it's multiplayer compatible, but you should also check it out. If it is it's the better one of the 2.

This is an illegal mod for our server considering it gives you an unfair advantage; I've personally banned multiple players for using it.

O i'm sorry I didn't know . I just thought since Rei's minimap was supported another mod wouldn't be a problem, but i guess you have a fair point and some people can't install mods so it would be unfair . O well, thanks for the info though.

Ya wouldn't that be awesome for ninjas? Have it be an ability, called free run or something like that and for 10 seconds they can do stuff like that? Or maybe even thiefs as well because they are supposed to b able to climb and stuff like that

That would be awesome that if in 1.8 since theres like sleep and food bars that you could free run but it like drains you

Would be cool, but I dont think they will require a mod in order to use a skill. Also, other people that werent ninjas, or theives, etc would probably use it too

The reason why this cant be implemented skill wise is because:
1) Notch doesnt know how to code
2) Speed is 100% client sided instead of server sided, which is the reason behind all the fly and speed hacks for smp.
3) See reason 1

I tested the One skill a while back, and it was glitchy as hell, you couldn't really turn, you couldn't jump, you couldn't stop, and you would more or less glide instead of fall when you went off of cliffs. Blame notch for samurais not having a speed boost

If notch would be smart about things, and make all the necessary things server sided, minecraft would 10x better

Raise awareness then. See if you can get his attention on Twitter or make a suggestion on Get Satisfaction. I'd be more than willing to do the same. It sounds like speed boosting is the tip of the iceberg in this case too, fleshing out the required changes and their consequences would be prudent.

Well with sprinting being in 1.8 Notch is going to almost need to put speed on the server side of things. And about the raising awareness thing, i spam his twitter on a daily basis for about 2 to 3 months telling him to support multi-threading, if he hasn't ignored me yet then he will soon.
