Forum Avatar Help (.gif)

Is it possible to make my forum avatar a .gif file? I've seen it on other sites using this type of forums (XenPorta I believe), but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you can use it, but you will only see it moving if you click on it.
