Druids + ocelots?

What about making ocelots in 1.2 a Druid-specific companion? Like wolves to rangers. They're not really aggressive or anything (yet), so it'd be more of a vanity pet.

It'd be fitting with the druid's "nature-y" theme to have a skill to summon ocelots. Especially if jungle biomes don't show up. It'd also make Druid more interesting to have it as a unique skill, since most of its moves come from the other healer specs or Wizard moves like Root and Port. There's no skill gain at 45, so it could be thrown in there easily.

Now it could be that only Druids could tame them, or that only Druids could summon them for other people to tame them as pets. Other possibilities are if Druids tame them they remain ocelots, but for anyone else they become cats like normal, etc.

Just an idea.

Hey that's a cool idea, Druids need a bit of oomph. Noone seems to play them.

I think I'm the only Druid, hah. It's not that great of a healer but Port and Root can be useful.
I'm kinda holding out for a buff, but in the meantime, I really do think that thematically, ocelots fit with Druids the best.

I think it'd be good for the class! It might make it more appealing if we had something unique no one else had. But I could just be biased in favour of my own class. ;p

I've never seen another one, but yeah I guess they are the healer utility spec.
But they need something more imo.

I've changed from Geo to Disciple now. Jedi woooop.

I have no idea how hard it'd be to do or if it's even possible, but druid turning into an animal would also be an interesting feature. If that's even possible and probably in the distant future.

Like you can't use spells, but wolf could do melee damage and ocelot could move quickly or something, for fast travel or fleeing.

But of course this is all a stretch. A summon ability for now would be great. Taming for druids-only would be nicer. ;P

This is a great idea. Druids have no attacking option, only healing and utility spells. It only makes sense for a druid to be able to call upon nature to protect himself/herself.

Don't you think @Kainzo ? Ocelots are coming out soon! Rangers DEFINITELY don't need them lol

or make ocelots for ranger and make dogs for another class. In my mind cats fit rangers more than dogs, cats are sneaky and fast, rangers are sneaky and the cats could sprint up really fast to the enemy while the ranger shoots them, I am not saying this because I am a ranger I am a healer.

Every hunter I know has dogs, my uncles who hunt don't walk around with their cats :p

Dogs definitely seem more ranger-esq to me. They fit that whole ranger vibe of weakening your enemy & sicking your dog on them for the final kill.

Ad rem, It would be cool if druids could have ocelots but ATM you can't have a tamed ocelot. And a house cat running around with a druid doesn't quite seem right... (donor perk maybe?)

Although I'd all be for turning into animals (ocelots for fast travel?). Unfortunately if I remember right, something similar was going to be added but it was too hard to program and/or too memory intensive to be implemented...

I love this idea! I was thinking the same thing. Maybe these ocelots could have 35-40 hp and have an attack that does 7 hp and they follow you around!

As you already know Keko, I like this idea. Druids kinda seem pretty boring otherwise and a company-pet (even though it's a vanity-pet) would really spice the class up and probably make it more popular.

I think it would be neat if the ocelots would retrieve the item drops and automatically put them into your inventory when they come back to you. I assume it's impossible, but it would be sweet.

cats can't do damage I really don't understand how cats fit with rangers

anyway as of the latest snapshot, creepers are afraid of cats, so that's their only use so far.
druids' theme is supposed to be nature, so I just thought it'd be fitting to have them get a pet since dogs are for rangers. or the ability to summon an animal.
